American Idol 10 Top 5 Results 5/5/11 – Who Got Voted Off American Idol Tonight

Last night’s Top 5 American Idol performances of the Then and Now theme had some very good performances, but someone is going to get the boot anyway. Who is going home? Haley? Jacob? Lauren? It will be interesting to see if Ryan Seacrest announces how many votes were received last night, since in week’s past that information has been left out. Is America bored with Season 10?

This is American Idol!

Wow! Ryan says 60 million votes came in last night! That’s a first! Jennifer Lopez will perform tonight, plus Lady Antebellum will sing too. Ryan reminds us that the American Idol Live Tour tickets go on sale May 13th. The Top 5 contestants sing their group song “Happy Together”. These group songs are the least favorite parts of the show, at least for me.

Season 11 auditions will take place over the summer in various cities and locations, and more details will be announced next week.

Top 5 Ford video is shown to the song “Be Yourself”. Video is shown of the Top 5 with Chef Ramsey in the kitchen and the Idols have to race to make a spectacular omelet. A couple contestants asked if Chef Ramsey was going to teach them how to make an omelet first. Ha! Lauren did great! Lauren won first place and Jacob won second place, but Chef says the competition isn’t over yet. More to come on that.

Results! Ryan has James Durbin stand. Video clip of Jimmy saying last night’s performance was an 8 out of 10, and that James lost his singing voice when he broke down in tears. James is asked to stand at the opposite side of the stage.

Lauren Alaina is asked to stand. Jimmy says she pulled back in her performance last night, and it could keep her out of the finals. He predicts Lauren will be in the bottom 2 tonight. Uh Oh! Lauren is asked to stand nearest to Ryan, on the opposite side of the stage from James Durbin.

The Chef Ramsey kitchen race between Lauren and Jacob continues… Each are blindfolded and must do a taste test of different foods. Lauren wins the taste test contest. Tasting the Tofu (Yuck!) grossed both of them out.

Jennifer Lopez performs her number 1 hit single On The Floor with Pitbull. What a great dance song! Very Nice!

While Jennifer is backstage changing clothes, we’re shown video of Jennifer’s music video. And she’s back.

Jacob Lusk is asked to stand. Jimmy says Jacob had a rough night last night. Yes he did. Jimmy says Jacob has lost confidence in himself and it’s showing. Jacob joins Lauren nearest Ryan.

Haley Reinhart stands next. Jimmy says Haley needed to do something “dangerous” since she’s been running 4th or 5th place, in his opinion. Jimmy says she did a great job with her performance and says she gets a 10 in his opinion, and a lock in for the finale. Haley joins James Durbin on the far side of the stage.

Scotty McCreery stands next. Jimmy says Scotty’s performance was stellar, but his second song came up a bit short and will have a great singing career even if he doesn’t win the show. Scotty has never been in the Bottom 2. Scotty is SAFE!

Ryan asks Scotty to stand with the team he thinks is the Bottom 2 but he says no, he won’t do it. Ryan leads him over to stand by Haley and James and says they’re all SAFE! Lauren Alaina and Jacob Lusk are the Bottom 2 tonight. Both look devastated. Lauren is crying. Who is going home?

The person who got voted off American Idol tonight is Jacob Lusk! Lauren Alaina is SAFE!

Jacob sings his final song, to close out the show. He sings Luther Vandross’ song “A House Is Not A Home”.

American Idol 4/13/11 Songs From the Movies Theme and Pia Toscano Fans are MAD!

Many American Idol fans were not only shocked at the elimination of Pia Toscano last Thursday, but TMZ reports that American Idol and FOX bigwigs are being inundated with demands to bring back Pia and give Stefano Langone the boot.

According to TMZ “spies”, ‘hundreds of fans have been begging FOX to recognized the injustice of kicking Pia off the show, and bend the rules. It appears these fans are organized, because they come with a singular message — Stefano has no chance of winning and therefore he should be removed now as a sacrificial lamb so Pia can come back.’

“We’re told the fans have even reached out to Stefano … pleading with him to remove himself from the competition”, says TMZ. It’s worth a shot, I suppose, but the chances of American Idol bringing Pia back even if Stefano opts out of the show is likely slim to none. American Idol reported that Pia Toscano was voted off Idol because she received the fewest number of votes from fans and therefore was sent home.

It would be interesting to at least know the total number of votes received, as Ryan Seacrest often gives at the beginning of the results show on Thursday nights. The lack of voter number totals being mentioned during the show gives the implication that people are just not voting, perhaps assuming others will text or vote online for their favorite(s) instead and can slack off themselves. How Pia Toscano’s elimination from the show will or won’t affect the show’s ratings and viewer numbers remains to be seen, but many Pia fans have said they’re fed up and won’t watch Idol anymore.

On Wednesday night, 4/13/11, the American Idol Top 8 finalists (Casey Abrams, Lauren Alaina, James Durbin, Stefano Langone, Jacob Lusk, Scotty McCreery, Paul McDonald and Haley Reinhart) will sing “Songs From the Movies” as this week’s theme. Then on Thursday night, 4/14/11, the live results show will reveal which of the Top 8 received the lowest number of votes and will be voted off.

Performances on Thursday night include Grammy Award-winning pop star Rihanna, and past American Idol Season 1 winner Kelly Clarkson with country music star Jason Aldean performing their #1 Billboard Country Singles duet song “Don’t You Wanna Stay” from Jason’s My Kinda Party album.

The “Don’t You Wanna Stay” duet by Jason Aldean and Kelly Clarkson is a great song. Check out this video of their performance on the Country Music Awards (CMA) show. Love it!

Megan Joy Won’t Take Back Simon Cowell Insult

Former American Idol contestant, Megan Joy, will appear on The Ellen DeGeneres Show on Monday’s April 13 Ellen show and says she “wouldn’t take back” her insult comment to Idol judge Simon Cowell. In the pre-taped episode on Ellen, Megan Joy says she “doesn’t care” that Simon didn’t like her song or her performance and has no regrets.

Things got pretty heated between Megan Joy and Simon Cowell following Megan’s performance of Bob Marley’s “Turn The Lights Down Low”, with Simon Cowell calling her performance “indulgent, boring and monotonous”. Ouch! That had to hurt! On Wednesday’s American Idol Top Downloads Results Show, Ryan Seacrest asked Megan what she thought of Simon’s comments, Megan said, “I love you Simon, but I really don’t care”.

Widely viewed as an insult, US Magazine reports that Megan Joy had no idea that her comment would be upsetting to Simon. “I really had no idea that it was going to upset him, but I meant it and I wouldn’t take it back,” says 23-year-old Megan.

After being voted off American Idol on Wednesday’s Results Show, it was clear that the Idol judges were not going to use their one and only save on Megan Joy. Not a chance in a million. Simon snapped, “With the greatest respect, when you said you didn’t care [about my comments], neither do we. We’re not going to pretend to contemplate saving you. This your swan song. That’s it.”

Given Megan’s disrespectful and insulting comment, Megan literally blew her chances of being saved and it came as no surprise that the judges weren’t going to save Megan for another round of American Idol performances. Had Megan not spoken those words to Simon, she may have been saved. What Megan’s motivation was in saying those fateful words to Simon, that ultimately sealed her fate on the show, may have been her own way of dealing with the hurt she must have been feeling going into the results show.

On Monday’s show, Ellen DeGeneres asks Megan if her odd, bird-like “caw caw” flapping arms moment was her way of mocking the show. Megan replied, “No, I just woke-up feeling like it was my time to go, and I just said to myself: ‘You know what, if I go, I’m going to go out with a bang and enjoy it,’” she says. “So I just tried to have a good attitude.”

Having a “good attitude” while suspecting it’s your time to go home is one thing, but one can only wonder if her snappy retort to Simon Cowell was the best thing to do at the very moment the Idol judges were deciding whether to save her from elimination. Nevertheless, Megan Joy tells Ellen DeGeneres that she’s “absolutely” glad she did the show. “I just thought, never in a million years would I make it,” she says. “It wasn’t that I don’t adore the show and watch, I was just like, ‘I’m never going to make it.’”

Megan Joy has been making the talk show rounds since being voted off American Idol, appearing on “Live with Regis and Kelly” and “Good Day Utah”, and tomorrow’s Ellen DeGeneres show. Check your local listings in order to watch Megan Joy on The Ellen DeGeneres Show.
