American Idol Celebrates 50 Years of Motown Wednesday March 25 and Thursday March 26

berry-gordy-and-smokey-robinson-american-idol-season-8American Idol will celebrate “50 Years of Motown on Wednesday, March 25th and Thursday, March 26th this week. Motown greats Berry Gordy and Smokey Robinson will appear together on American Idol on Wednesday’s Idol show, with Smokey Robinson returning to Thursday’s Idol show along with American Idol’s own Ruben Studdard.

The “Special Nights” of American Idol performances will begin on March 25 (8-10 p.m. ET LIVE/PT tape-delayed) where the Top 10 Finalists (Kris Allen, Anoop Desai, Matt Giraud, Danny Gokey, Allison Iraheta, Megan Joy, Adam Lambert, Scott MacIntyre, Lil Rounds and Michael Sarver) will celebrate and pay tribute to 50 Years of Motown and perform classic Motown songs.

I love me some Motown, don’t you?

On Special Night Thursday March 26 (8-10 p.m. ET LIVE/PT tape-delayed), American Idol’s Top 10 finalists will find out who got voted off American Idol this week or if the judges use their veto vote to save a finalist from elimination and being sent home.

Smokey Robinson will perform on Thursday’s Idol show, and past American Idol winner Ruben Studdard will return to the American Idol stage to perform his new song “Together”.

Tuesday’s American Idol time-slot has been reserved for a prime-time news conference with President Barack Obama, so there’s no American Idol on Tuesday this week.
