Smokey Robinson Joss Stone “You’re The One For Me” Lyrics and Video

Just like you, I’ve been searching the net for the “You’re The One For Me” lyrics from Smokey Robinson and Joss Stone’s appearance on American Idol Motown results show Thursday, March 26. Since the “You’re The One For Me” lyrics can’t seem to be found anywhere online quite yet, I took the time to listen to “You’re The One For Me” a hundred times or more, writing down the song lyrics as the song played.

There were two lines in the lyrics to “You’re The One For Me”, where Smokey started singing in the duet with Joss Stone, that I had trouble figuring out. I’m once again posting the “You’re The One For Me” YouTube video with the lyrics I’ve written down. UPDATE: The two questionable lyric lines have been cleared up, and the complete/correct lyrics are found below.

Listen to Smokey Robinson and Joss Stone sing “You’re The One For Me”, and if anyone can decipher the two questionable lines in the lyrics, please leave a comment and I will edit the song lyrics accordingly. Don’t forget to download “You’re The One For Me” by Smokey Robinson, and you can choose to download the song with just Smokey singing, or you can download the duet performance with Joss Stone. The two lyric lines in question are highlighted in bold and italics.

Joss Stone Smokey Robinson You’re The One For Me Video American Idol

joss-stoneJoss Stone and Smokey Robinson sang “You’re The One For Me” on the American Idol Motown results show on Thursday, March 26th and we’ve got the YouTube Video! Smokey Robinson and Joss Stone debuted “You’re The One For Me” from Smokey’s album entitled, “Time Flies When You’re Having Fun”, tentatively scheduled for release in May 2009.

Watching 69-year-old Smokey Robinson sing a love song to soon-to-be 22-year-old Joss Stone (born Jocelyn Eve Stoker on April 11, 1987) seemed a bit strange to some Idol viewers, but I thought the performance was beautiful. Maybe some viewers didn’t like the performance because they lack chemistry, but Smokey’s voice is still amazingly smooth and beautiful to listen to, with or without Joss Stone or other female singers Smokey has performed with.

A bit about Smokey Robinson’s biography: Smokey Robinson, born William “Smokey” Robinson, Jr. on February 19, 1940, is one of the primary key figures associated with Motown Records, second only to the company’s founder, Berry Gordy. Smokey Robinson earned the title “King of Motown” due to his countless hit songs and contribution to the Motown record label. You can read more about Smokey Robinson and his sparkling green eyes on the Smokey Robinson biography profile page on Wiki.

English soul singer Joss Stone came to fame in late 2003 with her multi-platinum debut album, “The Soul Sessions“. Joss Stone songs and albums have sold over ten million copies worldwide, winning one Grammy Award and two BRIT Awards. In 2005, Stone and Melissa Ethridge did an incredible tribute to Janis Joplin during the 2005 Grammy Awards singing “Piece of My Heart” that brought the house down, and was considered to be one the highlights of the Awards show that year.
