American Idol Michael Jackson Tribute Songs in Honor of MJ King of Pop

American Idol is doing a special tribute to Michael Jackson on Monday, June 29th at 8 p.m EST. in honor of the King of Pop who passed away on Thursday, June 25, 2009.

American Idol is re-airing the American Idol Season 8 Top 13 episode of Michael Jackson songs, originally aired on March 10, 2009 on FOX.

This was the first time that American Idol had done an entire evening of Michael Jackson’s music, and I’m very happy that Idol is doing this special in memory of MJ.

Gawd, I can’t believe Michael Jackson is dead. Here’s the list of songs that will be performed on Monday’s special tribute to Michael Jackson:

The news of Michael Jackson’s death sent shock waves around the world, with Jackson fans in complete shock and disbelief that the King of Pop has died. Michael Jackson was only two years older than me, and I grew up listening to MJ’s music from the time I was little. Our family used to watch the Jackson Five variety show on television when Michael Jackson and his siblings were little boys and girls (LaToya and Janet), and we’ve never wavered in our admiration and deep respect for the genius that is Michael Jackson.

Michael Jackson fans are rushing to buy up as much Michael Jackson memorabilia as possible, and I don’t blame them one bit. I already have quite a lot of Michael Jackson music and the collection just keeps getting bigger. In my heart, Michael Jackson will live on forever not only as the King of Pop, but also someone who was born into the same family religion as I did.

If you ever watched the show on television years ago describing Michael Jackson’s early childhood and the abuse he suffered that was detailed in the story, you know what I’m referring to. I choose to remember Michael Jackson as not only the King of Pop, but also someone whose early childhood was very similar to my own – except for the music career part. Michael Jackson will never be forgotten.

Top 5 Group performance “It Don’t Mean a Thing” and “I Got Rhythm”. It was okay; the group performances are always pre-taped and lack the WOW factor of singing/performing LIVE.

A few Idol Top 5 Birthdays were celebrated in one weekend. Video of the Top 5 in the kitchen “making a cake” but turns into a food fight.

The kitchen was a huge mess, with the food fight supposedly being started by Danny Gokey. Danny was handed a “birthday present” which was a $6000.00 bill to clean up the mess.

Matt Giraud is asked to stand on the right side of the stage. Danny Gokey is asked to head to the left side of the stage. Allison Iraheta is asked to stand next to Danny on the left side of the stage. Kris Allen is asked to stand next to Matt Giraud. UH OH Kris! Adam Lambert is asked which of the two groups of contestants he thinks he belongs in. Adam Lambert initially takes the side of the stage with Allison and Danny, but Ryan Seacrest moves Adam Lambert into the group with Matt and Kris.

The Bottom 3!

Matt Giraud, Kris Allen and Adam Lambert!!!! Idol fans on Twitter are freaking out at the news that Adam Lambert is in the BOTTOM 3! Quite an UPSET on American Idol tonight! No one would have predicted that Adam Lambert would EVER find himself in the Bottom list!

Natalie Cole is singing “Something’s Gotta Give“. Natalie Cole’s career spans almost 4 decades. Rumor being discussed on Twitter is that Natalie Cole is “sick” and needs a kidney. She definitely looks very very thin.

Taylor Hicks is singing “Seven Mile Breakdown” from his album “The Distance”. Taylor Hicks has lost a few pounds, and his hair is cut much shorter than before.

Joining Allison Iraheta and Danny Gokey in the TOP 4 is KRIS ALLEN!!!! That means Adam Lambert and Matt Giraud are the Bottom 2 tonight! WOW!

Idol “mentor” Jamie Foxx takes the stage singing the #1 song in America, “Blame It On The Alcohol“. THAT’S the #1 song in America right now? WHY? Yawn….

Ryan Seacrest is now asking Jamie about working with the Idol contestants and says the Top 5 are all “artists” and will have a great career regardless of who wins American Idol Season 8.

“THIS IS AMERICAN IDOL!” – The American Idol Finale is just 3 weeks away! Standards from the Rat Pack Era! “Mystery Mentor” Jamie Foxx is introduced with each of the Top 5 not having any idea who the mentor would be this week.

First to sing is KRIS ALLEN singing “The Way You Look Tonight”. Slow, mellow and smooth. Kris looks great in his suit too. Very nice job Kris! Randy Jackson says “this is your best performance…, nice!” Kara DioGuardi says Kris has “set the technical standards for this night”, and that Kris is a “dark horse in this competition”. Paula Abdul called Kris a “charismatic crooner”. Simon Cowell didn’t think the performance was that great, calling the performance “wet”, and doesn’t believe Kris Allen can possibly win this Season 8 competition. Kara says Allison likely earned some new fans tonight, and if this performance “doesn’t land you in the finals, I don’t know what will”. Paula says the performance was alluring and very tender. Simon Cowell asks Allison if she thinks she can win the competition and she of course does, but Simon says he feels she could be in trouble tonight. Uh Oh Allison!!! American Idol Spoiler Alert! Next week on American Idol (4/28/09), the Top 5 Idol Finalists will sing songs of the Rat Pack. Rat Pack Standards is the theme for next week, songs from the original Rat Packs: Frank Sinatra, Sammy Davis Jr, Peter Lawford, Dean Martin and Joey Bishop.

It’s interesting that next week’s Rat Pack Theme includes 5 big-time performers for the American Idol Top 5 finalists. Coincidence? I doubt it.

The Top 5 Idol contestants will be singing TWO songs next week, not just one, so next week’s Idol performances and results show will surely be entertaining and fun.

American Idol Season 5 winner Taylor Hicks will sing his latest single “Seven Mile Breakdown” from his album “The Distance” next week on Wednesday’s Results Show on American Idol. Ha, another use of the number “5″ in next week’s Rat Pack theme.

What songs each of the Final 5 will sing next week is still anyone’s guess, but if we catch onto any Rat Pack song list spoilers, we’ll be sure to let you know.

Last night’s American Idol 4/21/09 Disco themed performances had some good stuff and not so good stuff. “Who got voted off American Idol” predictions have Lil Rounds, Anoop Desai and Matt Giraud being in the Bottom 3 during tonight’s Idol Results show. TWO of the Top 7 American Idol Finalists are going home tonight, not just one.

Who will be voted off tonight predictions have been quite sketchy and unreliable, especially if you’ve seen recent Idol predictions from Dial Idol. There is also a ridiculous frenzy of “Vote For The Worst” nonsense that is supposedly meant to keep American Idol interesting, but Idol fans aren’t amused by those morons one bit.

Paula Abdul choreographed tonight’s American Idol group performance, and we’ll post video so you can watch American Idol’s results show online and watch who got voted off. Past American Idol Contestant David Archuleta performs tonight singing; Harry Wayne Casey from KC and the Sunshine Band perform; Thelma Houston and Freda Payne perform a medley of their hits. Are you ready?! “THIS IS AMERICAN IDOL!”

45 Million Votes for Disco Week! Wow! Video clip of the Idol Group Performance preparations with choreographer Paula Abdul are shown. Paula Abdul introduces the American Idol Top 7 Group Performance song “Shake Your Body Down To The Ground” by Michael Jackson. Kris Allen dancing is just too funny, but the group dance routine (lip-synched of course) was fun and entertaining. Paula Abdul is presented a large, beautiful bouquet of flowers for her hard work teaching the Top 7 to dance. Good job Top 7!

Lil Rounds is then called to stand next to Idol host Ryan Seacrest, and is the first of the two to be voted off American Idol tonight. Lil sings the song she sang last night “I’m Every Woman” and is given a standing ovation. Randy Cowell tells Lil “this is just the beginning baby, just the beginning”. Simon Cowell says Lil is a great singer and is going to miss her family screaming in the audience. Kara and Paula also comment that Lil has a singing career ahead of her.

Disco icon Freda Payne is singing “Band of Gold“. This one is definitely LIVE (singing out of key….OUCH) and Freda really needed a slip under that virtually see-through dress. Yikes! Thelma Houston takes the Idol stage singing “Don’t Leave Me This Way“. KC and The Sunshine Band Harry Wayne Casey is (of course) singing “Get Down Tonight“. After watching these performances, it gives new meaning to PRE-TAPED (and edited) performances. That was pretty painful to watch.

Anoop Desai is told he’s in the Bottom 3 and has to wait to find out if he’s been voted off American Idol. Allison Iraheta and Matt Giraud are told to stand together. Matt is safe and Allison Iraheta is told she’s in the Bottom 3 and takes a seat next to Anoop Desai. Wow! Allison in the Bottom 3?! She’s awesome!!!

David Archuleta takes the stage singing “Touch My Hand“. Very nice performance David! I will definitely download David Archuleta’s performance and get the lyrics to sing along (NOT!).

David Archuleta encourages Anoop Desai and Allison Iraheta that regardless of who is voted off tonight, there are lots of other opportunities that come for Idol contestants that don’t make it all the way to the finale.

Who Got Voted Off American Idol with Lil Rounds?

Anoop Desai got voted off and is eliminated from American Idol and Allison Iraheta is safe. Anoop now has to go through the torture of singing his final song on American Idol, “Dim All The Lights”.

There have been various “American Idol Spoilers” circulating the net about what songs each of the Top 7 will sing tonight, but there are also many trustworthy people saying the “spoilers” are fakes, and that’s why we’re not posting any spoilers unless we have every reason to believe they’re real.

It’s DISCO night on American Idol! “This is American Idol!” Ryan Seacrest reminds us that on tomorrow night’s Results show, TWO of the Idol TOP 7 will be voted off American Idol, so remember to VOTE!

Lil Rounds is first up singing “I’m Every Woman” by Chaka Khan. Lil Rounds is doing a pretty good job with her performance tonight, but let’s see what the judges have to say. Randy Jackson says “it sounded so wild” and “didn’t really show us what kind of vocal control you can have”. Kara DioGuardi said “I’m not sure it was worth the wait” and Lil “still didn’t tell me who you are as an artist”. Paula Abdul says Lil was “hot tonight” but “didn’t make the boiling point”. Simon Cowell says he’s glad Lil had fun but thinks this week is Lil’s “final shot”. Wow, all four Idol judges weren’t at all pleased with Lil Rounds performance. I didn’t think it was THAT bad! Kris Allen is next to perform and he’s singing “She Works Hard For The Money” by Donna Summer. Kris is playing the guitar, and Kris’ performance is quite a bit slower and more mellow than the version Donna Summer did during the Disco days. Kris definitely changed things up and made the song his own, but I don’t know if I like this one personally, but that’s only because I love me some Donna Summer. Kara DioGuardi says Kris “took a big risk but it paid of big time”. Paula Abdul says the performance had a “classy” style to it, also commenting on Kris’ outfit. Simon Cowell said “that was not karaoke”, “was original and a fantastic performance”. Randy Jackson says Kris is “ready for the big time”. Danny Gokiey takes the Idol stage singing “September” by Earth, Wind and Fire. Paula Abdul is dancing at her seat, and I can see why.

Danny is sounding pretty darn good tonight! Overall, I liked Danny’s performance. Randy Jackson says he was a bit worried but that Danny “really turned this to work it out for you”. Kara DioGuardi says Danny is an “incredible vocalist” and his “pitch is always on”. Paula Abdul says Danny “has one of the sexiest voices” and women of all ages will love Danny Gokey. Allison Iraheta is singing “Hot Stuff” by Donna Summer. Allison is really rockin’ her performance tonight! Wow Allison! I am soooo going to download Allison’s performance!!! Randy Jackson says “it was a little over-indulgent” but that Allison is “one of the best singers” in the competition but didn’t really like the arrangement. Kara DioGuardi also didn’t like the arrangement, but agrees with Randy that her vocals were excellent. Paula Abdul says Allison “hit it out of the park” and Simon Cowell says it “was a brilliant performance”. The moment American Idol is over tonight, I’m downloading Hot Stuff immediately! Adam Lambert is next up, singing “If I Can’t Have You” by the Bee Gees. Adam Lambert is simply spectacular tonight in my opinion, but the haters will say Adam was screaming and screeching. Whatever. Randy Jackson says “you are ready right now”, saying “he is a Hot One tonight America!” Kara DioGuardi says the way Adam connects with the audience is inspiring, and says the performance was spectacular. Paula Abdul appears choked up, with lips quivering and says “you will be in the finals”. Simon Cowell says “the vocals were immaculate”. Simon Cowell is clapping his hands for Adam’s performance! Next up is Matt Giraud singing “Staying Alive” by the Bee Gees. I really like Matt Giraud and I enjoy listening to Matt sing, but I don’t care much when he attempts to sing too high for his vocal range ability, as he does in this performance. Randy Jackson didn’t like the song choice, didn’t like the arrangement but says “you can really sing dude”. Kara says the “vocals were pretty good”, a good/solid performance. Paula Abdul says after tonight’s performance, Matt “is staying”. Simon Cowell says the performance came across as “desperate”, with no originality and “not a huge fan of that one”. Uh-Oh Matt?! Last to sing tonight is Anoop Desai singing “Dim All The Lights” by Donna Summer. Randy Jackson says that Anoop can sing too “nice, baby nice”. Simon Cowell says “it was mediocre at best”, a “horrible version of that song”, “genuinely your worst performance”. Uh Oh Anoop! I didn’t like that one at all! This is American Idol 4/15/09! We’re LIVE with the American Idol Top 7 Results Show to see Who got voted off American Idol tonight?! Last night on American Idol the Top 7 Finalists sang songs of the cinema, and if the “Dial Idol” predictions are correct of who will be voted off American Idol, there could be a major upset on tonight’s results show! Miley Cyrus (pre-taped) is scheduled to perform her new song “Climb” tonight, and GRAMMY award winner Jennifer Hudson (American Idol Season 3 Finalist) will be performing “If This Isn’t Love” on the American Idol Results Show tonight!

The Results Are In!!! Will the Idol judges use their veto “save” vote tonight, and save the Idol contestant with the lowest number of votes from elimination?!

American Idol host, Ryan Seacrest, introduces the Top 7 to the stage. “Will your favorite be eliminated tonight”? says Ryan. All four judges are introduced as usual.

Next is the American Idol Ford Video performance, showing the Top 7 on magazine covers singing “Freeze Frame“.

The Top 7 Idol Finalists are singing the group performance song “Maniac“. Sounding really good! Danny Gokey has the glasses back on tonight, and each of the finalists are doing a great job singing Maniac! Hitting the high notes perfectly and keeping up a great rhythm throughout the group performance. Great job!

Quentin Tarrantino was last night’s ‘mentor’ for the Top 7, and Ryan talks to the finalists about that and shows video of when the finalists went to the Movie Premiere of “17 Again”, coming out this Friday. It’s an interesting video clip, but seems to be taking up too much time tonight. Let’s get to the results already! Zac Efron is in the audience too.

Jennifer Hudson takes the stage singing “If This Isn’t Love” and OH MY GOD Jennifer Hudson is an amazing singer! What a beautiful song, and what vocal pipes Jennifer has on her! Great job Jennifer!

Miley Cyrus is singing her new song “Climb” in a pre-taped Idol performance. Miley Cyrus is definitely coming into her own as she gets older and develops stronger vocals. She sounds really good. I’m not liking her hairstyle tonight at all…, her hair is hanging in her eyes and looking very messy! What’s up with the hair Miley?! All in all, Miley’s performance was spectacular, minus the crazy wild hair.

So, who got voted off American Idol tonight? ….. With over 36 million votes……Matt Giraud had the lowest number of votes and was voted off from American Idol Season 8 tonight. Will the Judges use their veto SAVE vote to save Matt? OH MY GOD! Matt is having to endure that horrible feeling of singing “To Really Love a Woman” one more time in hopes of being saved tonight. I hate this part! It’s like begging for your life!

Simon Cowell says Matt wasn’t as good tonight as he was last night.Â Whooohooooo! Matt Giraud was SAVED BY THE JUDGES TONIGHT ON AMERICAN IDOL! Wow!!! NO ONE GOES HOME TONIGHT!!!!

American Idol 4-21-09 Theme Next Week Spoiler! The American Idol Top 6 Finalists theme next week is DISCO!, according to Idol judge Paula Abdul, whose theme spoiler comes even before tonight’s elimination vote.

During her weekly interview with John Jay and Rich from the Phoenix KISS radio station, Paula Abdul says next week’s theme is Disco! Paula also said that she’ll be choreographing the American Idol Group Performance next week, so hopefully we won’t all be bored to tears watching the Top 6 fumble during those ridiculous group performances. Ugh!

Paula didn’t name a “mentor” for next week’s Idol Disco night, even saying she doesn’t think there will be a “mentor” next week.

Paula also mentioned being concerned about Matt Giraud and Lil Rounds, as possibly being in trouble of elimination after last night’s Songs of the Cinema performances. Paula said Matt Giraud nailed his song during the rehearsals.

Paula Abdul and Simon Cowell have both said they hated not being able to comment on each Idol performance last night. Paula told John Jay and Rich that she didn’t know about the “two judge” rule until show time. The “two judge” commenting was first going to be split by gender, but everything was changed up at the last minute just before Idol started.

According to Dial Idol predictions (dialidol.com), both Matt Giraud and Kris Allen being in the Bottom 3 tonight, along with Allison Iraheta! The odds at this point, just a few hours before tonight’s “who got voted off American Idol?” results show, are that either Matt Giraud or Kris Allen will be voted off tonight.

American Idol 4/14/09 has finally arrived! Your American Idol Top 7 Theme tonight is Idols At The Movies/Songs of The Cinema, and we’re LIVE with our review/recap of each American Idol performance and judges comments. Who will be voted off American Idol tomorrow night during the 4/15/09 American Idol Results Show? We’re about to find out!

Quentin Tarrantino is tonight’s American Idol mentor, which should make tonight’s Top 7 performances very interesting. “This is American Idol”, says Idol host Ryan Seacrest. Quentin Tarrantino was an Idol judge during Season 3, and he holds no punches in his reviews of Idol performances.

Due to the complaints American Idol and FOX received because Idol ran late last week, only two Idol judges will speak to comment and critique each of the American Idol performances tonight. That should (hopefully) keep things rolling!

First to sing is Allison Iraheta singing “Don’t Want to Miss a Thing” by Aerosmith. Allison is “one talented young lady”, and that’s exactly what Paula Abdul says too. Simon Cowell says Allison is “the girls only hope in this competition” and “we may see Allison all the way to end of the competition”. Allison should be very proud of her accomplishments thus far, and I can’t help but agree that Allison deserves to be in the Top 3 at this point in the competition, unless Allison really screws up with song choices or performances in coming weeks. Next to sing Anoop Desai singing “Everything I Do“, by Bryan Adams. Wow! Anoop is doing a great job with “Everything I Do”! Smooth and beautiful! This has got to be one of Anoop’s BEST performances so far! Randy Jackson says he was initially worried about Anoop’s song choice but said “it was in tune, you did a really good job man!” Kara DioGuardi “it was probably one his best performances” and that Anoop “did a good job”. Anoop should also be very proud of his performance tonight, and I would definitely download his performance. It’s goody. To vote for Anoop: 1-866-Idols-02 or Text 5702

Adam Lambert is singing “Born to Be Wild” by Steppenwolf. The way Adam Lambert hits those high notes is amazing! Paula Abdul is on her feet, and the audience is screaming! Paula said “you dare to dance in the path of greatness”. Wow! Simon jokingly says Adam needs to “learn to express himself a little more”. Ha! Simon doesn’t think Adam’s performance “will be as popular as last week” (Mad World), but Simon “liked it”. I don’t know…, I think Adam Lambert fans will love this performance tonight and will download it immediately after the show! To vote for Adam: 1-866-Idols-03 or Text 5703

Matt Giraud is singing “To Really Love a Woman” by Bryan Adams. Matt’s at the piano tonight, and it started out alright but it became quite pitchy. Randy Jackson agrees saying “not one of your best performances man”. Kara DioGuardi wasn’t very impressed with Matt’s performance either. Matt tries real hard and that’s obvious in all of his performances, but tonight’s performance was definitely not his best. I really like Matt Giraud and I believe he has a singing career coming his way, but tonight was not his best. To vote for Matt: 1-866-Idols-04 or Text 5704

Danny Gokey is up next to sing “Endless Love” by Diana Ross. Danny Gokey is wearing contacts tonight, not the glasses! I was a bit nervous about this song choice, but halfway through the song it really started sounding good! Good for Danny! Paula feels the same way about initially being nervous about the song choice, but all in all felt that Danny did a good job. Simon Cowell said he was “disappointed” with the performance, saying it obviously had a lot of meaning to Danny personally. To vote for Danny: 1-866-Idols-05 or Text 5705

Kris Allen is up next to sing “Falling Slowly” from the movie “Once”. Hmm, I don’t know what American Idol fans will think about this one. Slow, smooth, pitchy in places, no WOW factor. Randy Jackson says Kris was “pitchy” throughout, and didn’t like Kris’ performance at all. Kara DioGuardi definitely liked the performance, saying it was one “of the best” performances of the night. Kris Allen fans will probably like tonight’s performance, but as much as I enjoy listening and watching Kris sing, it’s time for Kris to bring on the WOW factor to stay in the competition. Last to sing tonight is Lil Rounds with “The Rose” by Bette Midler. I don’t know about this performance, and I’m afraid Lil will find herself not only in the Bottom 3 but also voted off tomorrow night. Lil put her own spin to the song and did what she could to make it her own with a R&B spin. Paula didn’t have much to say about the actual performance itself, but simply commented on how Lil has managed to stay in the competition this far. Simon wasn’t at all impressed with Lil’s performance tonight, and makes very clear that Lil’s days on the show are likely numbered. To vote for Lil: 1-866-Idols-07 or Text 5707

I love American Idol Polls, don’t you? We introduced an American Idol voting poll where you can vote for your favorite American Idol season 8 contestant, and the results of the poll so far show Adam Lambert is in the top spot to be the next American Idol.

The New York Post recently reported all-too-obvious predictions that the odds of Adam Lambert winning this season’s Idol competition and becoming the next American Idol have become so strong that those placing bets will only receive 80 cents on every dollar placed in Adam’s direction.

“The talent show has seen some heavy favorites in the past but nothing quite like Lambert — who is running away from the field with seven other performers still in the running. Lambert has been out of the top spot only once so far in competition — when he stumbled during country music week — and briefly gave the betting lead to Danny Gokey. Gokey this week is holding steady as the second pick, with most bookmakers listing him at 5-to-2. Kris Allen is moving up among “Idol” bettors and is now the show’s No. 3 pick at around 7-to-1. Allison Iraheta had been the third pick for several weeks, but — after a lackluster performance last week — fell to the middle of the pack.”

American Idol 2009 is slowly but surely getting closer to deciding who will be the next American Idol, and even though the NYP article was posted prior to the American Idol Top 8 songs from the year you were born theme with Scott McIntyre being voted off, polls and vote results continue to show Adam Lambert is the one to beat in this competition.

Next week’s American Idol 4/14/09 theme, songs from the cinema/songs from the movies, should be very interesting and entertaining, as the Top 7 finalists perform songs of the cinema under the guidance of director Quentin Tarantino. Rest assured that the moment we learn of any American Idol Spoiler rumors of what songs the Idol contestant will sing, we’ll let you know right away.

American Idol predictions or speculation about which of the American Idol Top 7 will last long enough in the competition to be the Top 5 and Top 3 finalists are no where to be found online. Let’s change that, shall we?
