American Idol Season 10 Schedule Air Dates Move to Wednesday and Thursday

American Idol Season 10 doesn’t start until January 2011 but FOX and AI’s Executive Producer Nigel Lythgoe have been very busy making big changes to the show in apparent hopes to revive the popularity and ratings of American Idol. Season 9 wasn’t very memorable in many people’s views, including mine. Simon Cowell ran off into the sunset to do X Factor, Kara DioGuardi got the boot, Paula Abdul has been gone awhile, leaving sole original judge Randy Jackson to carry on.

Yeah, we’ve got the new judges team of Randy Jackson, Jennifer Lopez and Steve Tyler on board. Yawn. Nigel Lythgoe announced recently that the Top 24 contestants is no more, but American Idol contestants will move right on to the Top 12 after Hollywood. AI is keeping the theme weeks, but the challenges contestants will face with the new season have increased.

According to TVGuide.com, there will be “contests to make the best music video, to promote themselves, and to work with a band and dancers for an awards show-style performance.” Whether or not American Idol will return to the early glory days of high ratings remains to be seen, but some industry observers are expecting ratings to decline from last year after the initial curiosity seekers get their fill. American Idol fans have been anxious for new cd releases from their favorite AI contestants, and they’re needs have been met by new cd’s released from Season 9 winner Kris Allen, Adam “Glambert” Lambert, Crystal Bowersox, David Cook, Allison Iraheta, Lee DeWyze, Danny Gokey, Jordin Sparks, Chris Daughtry and even Tim Urban.

Previous American Idol contestants Carrie Underwood and Kelly Clarkson cd and complete album downloads are on the top of many people’s to-do list this holiday season. Let’s also not forget to consider the popular who got kicked off American Idol boot song Leave Right Now by Will Young, played at the end of the show each time a contestant gets voted off, my personal favorite boot song to date.

This is American Idol! Two Idol contestants will be eliminated tonight after last night’s Elvis themed performances that left some of the top idols feeling safe and secure, and others not so much. We’re LIVE with the results!

Video clip of Michael Lynche being saved by the judges and the excitement in the audience. Video clip of the Idols in Las Vegas, Adam Lambert telling contestants to “wake up”, and judges comments about last night’s performances. “Two idols will see their dreams come to a close” says Ryan. Double elimination tonight!

Over 34 million votes came in, the most for this season, says Ryan. Tonight brings a “dramatic elimination” since the judges already used the save vote on Michael. Ryan introduces the judges and says it’s going be a difficult night for the contestants. Ruh roh.

Group performance singing an Elvis medley. Typical lip-sync, nothing special.

“Going Green” Ford Commercial. zzzzz. The votes are in.

Casey, Andrew and Aaron take center stage. Ryan repeats the judges critique of their Elvis performances. “Andrew, it’s the end of the road” says Ryan. Andrew Garcia is voted off. Boom. Wow that happened fast! Casey and Aaron are both safe! Andrew sings his exit song, pitchy as usual.

Idol Gives Back is next week. Info can be found at www.idolgivesback.org. Kara DioGuardi and Elliott Yamin video of Angola Africa to help displaced families with bed nets and information about protecting children from malaria-diseased insects. Many celebrity performers are confirmed for the special program next week.

Brooke White and Justin Gaston sing. Twitter reaction to this performance are mixed. “Debacle”, “they suck” are the nicest terms so far. Ryan says it’s available on iTunes if you care, haha.

Bottom row contestants Lee, Siobhan, Katie, Michael, Crystal and Tim take center stage together. Ryan repeats the judges critique for each performance. Crystal is safe! Siobhan is safe! Lee is safe!

Next week the Top 7 remaining contestants will sing “inspirational songs”, with guest performance by Alicia Keys. Adam Lambert sings “Whad’ya Want From Me”. Several online reports say Adam was brought on to mentor because his sales are not doing well and the hope is his appearance on the show last night and tonight will boost his sales… erm, okay. Adam brought laser lights but Twitter peeps say it didn’t help him. Whatever.

Tim Urban is sent back to safety! WTH?!!!! Michael Lynche and Katie Stevens are in the Bottom Two!!!

Katie Stevens is voted off tonight. Michael Lynche is safe! Katie sings “Let It Be” as her exit song from the competition. Video of Katie’s time on the show is shown as the Idol Exit Song “Leave Right Now” plays in the background.

This is American Idol! Last night’s Lennon/McCartney theme brought Idol fans some good performances, for a change. We’re about to find out who amongst the Top 9 will be eliminated from American Idol tonight. Here we go!

Video clips of last night’s performances by the Top 9 are shown, plus clips of comments and criticism from the Idol judges. Ryan says the Top 9 will become the Top 8, unless the judges choose to use the save vote. (Don’t hold your breath) Ryan says we’re in for some “shocking results tonight”, ruh roh! The Idol Gives Back special program starts in two weeks; more info can be found at idolgivesback.org. Special guest performances tonight include Rihanna, Jason Derulo and David Archuleta.

The Top 9 Group Performance is a Lennon/McCartney medley. Lip-synched of course, but ya gotta love Lennon and McCartney songs regardless.

Ford Commercial to the song “Will it go round in circles”. The votes are in.

Ryan has Siobhan stand and has her stand in the center of the stage. Crystal stands and she is asked to join Siobhan. Katie stands and is asked to join Crystal and Siobhan. Nerves!!!

Crystal is safe! Whew!

Siobhan and Katie are both safe!!! All the ladies are safe!

The Bottom 3 tonight are all guys! OMG!!

Adam Lambert mentors the Top 8 next week. Jason Derulo (signed by Kara) sings “In My Head” and is attempting his best imitation of Michael Jackson’s moves. Um no. Michael Jackson wannabe. Twitter peeps don’t like the performance, but Simon says “that was great”. The song sounds good but I’m definitely not liking the Jackson imitation-attempts.

David Archuleta sings John Lennon’s “Imagine” and is playing piano. David is sounding really good tonight. Good job! What’s up with that haircut David? David’s been writing, recording and says his single should be coming out soon.

Ryan says they’re going to form two groups in the center of the stage. Drum Roll….

Lee is asked to stand and is asked to go stand at the far side of the stage.

Michael Lynche stands and asked to stand near/behind Ryan (not by Lee).

Casey James stands and is sent to stand by Lee on the far side of the stage.

Aaron stands and is sent to stand next to Mike, behind Ryan. Ruh Roh!!!

Tim stands and is sent to stand by Lee and Casey.

Andrew joins Michael and Aaron.

One group is safe and the other is the Bottom 3!!! Remember, “shocking results tonight”.

Rihanna debuts her new single “Rock Star 101″. Wait, what? Wasn’t Rihanna supposed to sing “Te Amo” tonight? WTH? Rihanna’s wearing a shiny, skin-tight cat suit. “Playing” a black guitar, if you wanna call it that. Twitter peeps are NOT impressed with Rihanna’s performance tonight. No kidding.

Andrew Garcia is safe!

Michael Lynch (Big Mike) is voted off and has to sing for his life, hoping the judges use the save on him! Shocking Results Tonight is right! Wow!

Randy Jackson Leaving American Idol Too…

Is Randy Jackson leaving American Idol? It was only a matter of time before news and blog reports would come out saying that Randy Jackson is leaving American Idol too, after Season 9, to join Simon Cowell and Paula Abdul on X Factor.

Randy Jackson was interviewed by the LATimes about his future on Idol, and low and behold, Jackson isn’t giving an official exit statement quite yet but…

Just like Simon Cowell and Paula Abdul did about their plans to leave American Idol, the hype and buzz about their possible plans to leave the show went on for far too long.

“We have a theory that — with Cowell leaving, Paula Abdul being a free agent for now, and (as reported) you signing a three-year extension in 2006 — the original “Idol” dream team could reunite on “The X-Factor.” Care to respond?”

Jackson replies, “You know, there’s a song by the Fray that I really love. It’s called “Never Say Never.”

In the Feb 15th edition of The National Enquirer, a tipster spills the beans that yes, Randy Jackson is leaving American Idol.

“Randy was basically told that there was a very good chance he was not going to be asked back after this season,” said the tipster. “Now that Simon’s leaving at the end of the season, they are rethinking the roles of the other judges — and that includes Randy…..”

Randy Jackson has just one more year left on his contract with FOX, and even though Jackson isn’t making an official statement quite yet, Idol fans and Jackson fans might as well start getting used to the idea that all of the original judges for American Idol are walking away from the mega-hit reality show.

What will happen to American Idol after Season 9 is anyone’s guess. Cancelled due to low ratings? Can Kara DioGuardi and Ellen DeGeneres (and any other judges or guest judges brought in) keep Idol alive, perhaps increase ratings and viewership? Personally, I highly doubt it.

Ellen DeGeneres may do well as a judge on American Idol, we’ll just have to wait and see. With Kara, I can take her or leave her, it makes no difference to me. But now that we know the hype, buzz and rumors about Randy Jackson leaving American Idol are all over the net, it’s a good guess that once Season nine is over and done with, Idol will be gone too.

Replaced by X Factor, with Simon Cowell, Paula Abdul and Randy Jackson as judges.

THIS IS AMERICAN IDOL!!! “Heroes of their hometown” says Ryan Seacrest. This is the 300th American Idol episode. Tonight’s “Three Amigos” are about to take the Idol stage. Ryan is introducing the judges. Ryan introduces the Top 3 American Idol Finalists, asking viewers “Who will you vote for to be in the Finale?”

First up is Danny Gokey singing “Dance Little Sister” by Terrance Trent D’Arby. Paula Abdul is up on her feet dancing to Danny’s performance. Good job Danny! Uptempo, singing on key (for a change), no screaming. Randy Jackson says “that was dope for me dude”. Kara DioGuardi didn’t like the dancing “too gyrating” – “forgettable performance”. Paula loved Danny’s performance, doing a “fantastic job”. Simon Cowell says the dancing “was a bit desperate”, “vocally very good”, but didn’t care much for the sax solo and “wrong song”. Next up is Kris Allen singing “Apologize” by One Republic. Kris is playing the piano and hitting the notes wonderfully, sounding really good tonight. Great job Kris! Kara said it was a “competent performance”, but says “you gotta hit it out of the park” and not behind the piano, taking more chances. Paula Abdul says “there was a bum note” but says Kris deserves to be in the Top 3. Simon tells Kara she and Randy can’t choose a song for Kris to sing but then blame Kris for doing the song with the arrangement he chose, saying Kara and Randy should have chosen the arrangement. Here comes Adam Lambert singing “One” by U2. (Simon Cowell says Bono agreed to allow Adam perform their song tonight). Starts off soft and mellow, very smooth….., then powerhouse vocals take over again. WOW Adam! Simon’s smiling and clapping. Randy Jackson says Adam “is in the zone” but wasn’t impressed with the song choice or performance, to which Simon says “booo”. Kara says Adam is a “strategist”, able to make performances “unbelievable”, doing his “own version” of the song. Paula jokes about sitting next to Simon “gloating over Adam’s performance”. Next up is Danny Gokey singing his Personal Choice song, “You Are So Beautiful” by Joe Cocker. I was very nervous Danny wouldn’t be able to pull off this song tonight, but Danny is sounding really good. Smooth, no screaming, great melody, very very good performance. Randy Jackson says “amazing song”, “you showed dude that you can really, really, really sing dawg”. Kara calls it a “stunning” performance. Paula says Danny’s changing up the “structure” of the song arrangement made for a “beautiful performance”. Simon calls it a “vocal masterclass”. Good job Danny! Kris Allen is up next with his Personal Choice song, “Heartless” by Kanye West. Kris is playing the guitar with this performance. Tonight’s American Idol Rat Pack theme brings back songs from the 5 original Rat Packs: Frank Sinatra, Sammy Davis Jr, Peter Lawford, Dean Martin and Joey Bishop., with “surprise” mentor Jamie Foxx appearing tonight on American Idol.

“THIS IS AMERICAN IDOL!” – The American Idol Finale is just 3 weeks away! Standards from the Rat Pack Era! “Mystery Mentor” Jamie Foxx is introduced with each of the Top 5 not having any idea who the mentor would be this week.

First to sing is KRIS ALLEN singing “The Way You Look Tonight”. Slow, mellow and smooth. Kris looks great in his suit too. Very nice job Kris! Randy Jackson says “this is your best performance…, nice!” Kara DioGuardi says Kris has “set the technical standards for this night”, and that Kris is a “dark horse in this competition”. Paula Abdul called Kris a “charismatic crooner”. Simon Cowell didn’t think the performance was that great, calling the performance “wet”, and doesn’t believe Kris Allen can possibly win this Season 8 competition. Kara says Allison likely earned some new fans tonight, and if this performance “doesn’t land you in the finals, I don’t know what will”. Paula says the performance was alluring and very tender. Simon Cowell asks Allison if she thinks she can win the competition and she of course does, but Simon says he feels she could be in trouble tonight. Uh Oh Allison!!! Paula says she “felt the connection by lowering the key” and that he did an “excellent job tonight”. Simon Cowell disagrees with Randy! Simon says it “was the only believable, authentic song tonight” – saying Matt’s performance was “absolutely brilliant”. Kara says she’s been missing the Rat Pack Swagger and that Danny has it! “Unbelievable!” Paula simply says Danny’s performance was “stellar”. Simon says Danny had a swagger and that he felt Danny “came out to prove a point” with a “superb arrangement”, and the performance was “outstanding”! It’s DISCO night on American Idol! “This is American Idol!” Ryan Seacrest reminds us that on tomorrow night’s Results show, TWO of the Idol TOP 7 will be voted off American Idol, so remember to VOTE!

Lil Rounds is first up singing “I’m Every Woman” by Chaka Khan. Lil Rounds is doing a pretty good job with her performance tonight, but let’s see what the judges have to say. Randy Jackson says “it sounded so wild” and “didn’t really show us what kind of vocal control you can have”. Kara DioGuardi said “I’m not sure it was worth the wait” and Lil “still didn’t tell me who you are as an artist”. Paula Abdul says Lil was “hot tonight” but “didn’t make the boiling point”. Kris Allen is next to perform and he’s singing “She Works Hard For The Money” by Donna Summer. Kris is playing the guitar, and Kris’ performance is quite a bit slower and more mellow than the version Donna Summer did during the Disco days. Kris definitely changed things up and made the song his own, but I don’t know if I like this one personally, but that’s only because I love me some Donna Summer. Kara DioGuardi says Kris “took a big risk but it paid of big time”. Paula Abdul says the performance had a “classy” style to it, also commenting on Kris’ outfit. Simon Cowell said “that was not karaoke”, “was original and a fantastic performance”. Randy Jackson says Kris is “ready for the big time”. Danny Gokiey takes the Idol stage singing “September” by Earth, Wind and Fire. Paula Abdul is dancing at her seat, and I can see why.

Danny is sounding pretty darn good tonight! Overall, I liked Danny’s performance. Randy Jackson says he was a bit worried but that Danny “really turned this to work it out for you”. Kara DioGuardi says Danny is an “incredible vocalist” and his “pitch is always on”. Paula Abdul says Danny “has one of the sexiest voices” and women of all ages will love Danny Gokey. Allison Iraheta is singing “Hot Stuff” by Donna Summer. Allison is really rockin’ her performance tonight! Wow Allison! I am soooo going to download Allison’s performance!!! Randy Jackson says “it was a little over-indulgent” but that Allison is “one of the best singers” in the competition but didn’t really like the arrangement. Kara DioGuardi also didn’t like the arrangement, but agrees with Randy that her vocals were excellent. Paula Abdul says Allison “hit it out of the park” and Simon Cowell says it “was a brilliant performance”. The moment American Idol is over tonight, I’m downloading Hot Stuff immediately! Adam Lambert is next up, singing “If I Can’t Have You” by the Bee Gees. Adam Lambert is simply spectacular tonight in my opinion, but the haters will say Adam was screaming and screeching. Whatever. Randy Jackson says “you are ready right now”, saying “he is a Hot One tonight America!” Kara DioGuardi says the way Adam connects with the audience is inspiring, and says the performance was spectacular. Next up is Matt Giraud singing “Staying Alive” by the Bee Gees. I really like Matt Giraud and I enjoy listening to Matt sing, but I don’t care much when he attempts to sing too high for his vocal range ability, as he does in this performance. Randy Jackson didn’t like the song choice, didn’t like the arrangement but says “you can really sing dude”. Kara says the “vocals were pretty good”, a good/solid performance. Paula Abdul says after tonight’s performance, Matt “is staying”. Simon Cowell says the performance came across as “desperate”, with no originality and “not a huge fan of that one”. Uh-Oh Matt?! Last to sing tonight is Anoop Desai singing “Dim All The Lights” by Donna Summer. Randy Jackson says that Anoop can sing too “nice, baby nice”. Kara DioGuardi says the song sounded like it could have been played on the radio. Paula says Anoop needs to smile more and enjoyed the uptempo part. Simon Cowell says “it was mediocre at best”, a “horrible version of that song”, “genuinely your worst performance”. Uh Oh Anoop! I didn’t like that one at all! This is American Idol 4/15/09! We’re LIVE with the American Idol Top 7 Results Show to see Who got voted off American Idol tonight?! Last night on American Idol the Top 7 Finalists sang songs of the cinema, and if the “Dial Idol” predictions are correct of who will be voted off American Idol, there could be a major upset on tonight’s results show! Miley Cyrus (pre-taped) is scheduled to perform her new song “Climb” tonight, and GRAMMY award winner Jennifer Hudson (American Idol Season 3 Finalist) will be performing “If This Isn’t Love” on the American Idol Results Show tonight!

The Results Are In!!! Will the Idol judges use their veto “save” vote tonight, and save the Idol contestant with the lowest number of votes from elimination?!

American Idol host, Ryan Seacrest, introduces the Top 7 to the stage. “Will your favorite be eliminated tonight”? says Ryan. All four judges are introduced as usual.

Next is the American Idol Ford Video performance, showing the Top 7 on magazine covers singing “Freeze Frame“.

The Top 7 Idol Finalists are singing the group performance song “Maniac“. Sounding really good! Danny Gokey has the glasses back on tonight, and each of the finalists are doing a great job singing Maniac! Hitting the high notes perfectly and keeping up a great rhythm throughout the group performance. Great job!

Quentin Tarrantino was last night’s ‘mentor’ for the Top 7, and Ryan talks to the finalists about that and shows video of when the finalists went to the Movie Premiere of “17 Again”, coming out this Friday. It’s an interesting video clip, but seems to be taking up too much time tonight. Let’s get to the results already! Zac Efron is in the audience too.

Jennifer Hudson takes the stage singing “If This Isn’t Love” and OH MY GOD Jennifer Hudson is an amazing singer! What a beautiful song, and what vocal pipes Jennifer has on her! Great job Jennifer!

I am soooo going to download If This Isn’t Love!!! Great job Jennifer! Amazing! Recently engaged to get married, Ryan Seacrest jokingly tries to get Jennifer to say the wedding date of her upcoming nuptials, but of course Jennifer isn’t going to do that for privacy reasons.

Miley Cyrus is singing her new song “Climb” in a pre-taped Idol performance. Miley Cyrus is definitely coming into her own as she gets older and develops stronger vocals. She sounds really good. I’m not liking her hairstyle tonight at all…, her hair is hanging in her eyes and looking very messy! What’s up with the hair Miley?! All in all, Miley’s performance was spectacular, minus the crazy wild hair.

So, who got voted off American Idol tonight? ….. With over 36 million votes……Matt Giraud had the lowest number of votes and was voted off from American Idol Season 8 tonight. Will the Judges use their veto SAVE vote to save Matt? OH MY GOD! Matt is having to endure that horrible feeling of singing “To Really Love a Woman” one more time in hopes of being saved tonight. I hate this part! It’s like begging for your life!

Simon Cowell says Matt wasn’t as good tonight as he was last night.Â Whooohooooo! Matt Giraud was SAVED BY THE JUDGES TONIGHT ON AMERICAN IDOL! Wow!!! NO ONE GOES HOME TONIGHT!!!!

American Idol 4/14/09 has finally arrived! Your American Idol Top 7 Theme tonight is Idols At The Movies/Songs of The Cinema, and we’re LIVE with our review/recap of each American Idol performance and judges comments. Who will be voted off American Idol tomorrow night during the 4/15/09 American Idol Results Show? We’re about to find out!

Quentin Tarrantino is tonight’s American Idol mentor, which should make tonight’s Top 7 performances very interesting. “This is American Idol”, says Idol host Ryan Seacrest. Quentin Tarrantino was an Idol judge during Season 3, and he holds no punches in his reviews of Idol performances.

Due to the complaints American Idol and FOX received because Idol ran late last week, only two Idol judges will speak to comment and critique each of the American Idol performances tonight. That should (hopefully) keep things rolling!

First to sing is Allison Iraheta singing “Don’t Want to Miss a Thing” by Aerosmith. Allison is “one talented young lady”, and that’s exactly what Paula Abdul says too. Simon Cowell says Allison is “the girls only hope in this competition” and “we may see Allison all the way to end of the competition”. Allison should be very proud of her accomplishments thus far, and I can’t help but agree that Allison deserves to be in the Top 3 at this point in the competition, unless Allison really screws up with song choices or performances in coming weeks. Next to sing Anoop Desai singing “Everything I Do“, by Bryan Adams. Wow! Anoop is doing a great job with “Everything I Do”! Smooth and beautiful! This has got to be one of Anoop’s BEST performances so far! Randy Jackson says he was initially worried about Anoop’s song choice but said “it was in tune, you did a really good job man!” Kara DioGuardi “it was probably one his best performances” and that Anoop “did a good job”. Anoop should also be very proud of his performance tonight, and I would definitely download his performance. It’s goody. To vote for Anoop: 1-866-Idols-02 or Text 5702

Adam Lambert is singing “Born to Be Wild” by Steppenwolf. The way Adam Lambert hits those high notes is amazing! Paula Abdul is on her feet, and the audience is screaming! Paula said “you dare to dance in the path of greatness”. Wow! Simon jokingly says Adam needs to “learn to express himself a little more”. Ha! Simon doesn’t think Adam’s performance “will be as popular as last week” (Mad World), but Simon “liked it”. I don’t know…, I think Adam Lambert fans will love this performance tonight and will download it immediately after the show! To vote for Adam: 1-866-Idols-03 or Text 5703

Matt Giraud is singing “To Really Love a Woman” by Bryan Adams. Matt’s at the piano tonight, and it started out alright but it became quite pitchy. Randy Jackson agrees saying “not one of your best performances man”. Kara DioGuardi wasn’t very impressed with Matt’s performance either. Matt tries real hard and that’s obvious in all of his performances, but tonight’s performance was definitely not his best. I really like Matt Giraud and I believe he has a singing career coming his way, but tonight was not his best. To vote for Matt: 1-866-Idols-04 or Text 5704

Danny Gokey is up next to sing “Endless Love” by Diana Ross. Danny Gokey is wearing contacts tonight, not the glasses! I was a bit nervous about this song choice, but halfway through the song it really started sounding good! Good for Danny! Paula feels the same way about initially being nervous about the song choice, but all in all felt that Danny did a good job. Simon Cowell said he was “disappointed” with the performance, saying it obviously had a lot of meaning to Danny personally. To vote for Danny: 1-866-Idols-05 or Text 5705

Kris Allen is up next to sing “Falling Slowly” from the movie “Once”. Hmm, I don’t know what American Idol fans will think about this one. Slow, smooth, pitchy in places, no WOW factor. Randy Jackson says Kris was “pitchy” throughout, and didn’t like Kris’ performance at all. Kara DioGuardi definitely liked the performance, saying it was one “of the best” performances of the night. Kris Allen fans will probably like tonight’s performance, but as much as I enjoy listening and watching Kris sing, it’s time for Kris to bring on the WOW factor to stay in the competition. Last to sing tonight is Lil Rounds with “The Rose” by Bette Midler. I don’t know about this performance, and I’m afraid Lil will find herself not only in the Bottom 3 but also voted off tomorrow night. Lil put her own spin to the song and did what she could to make it her own with a R&B spin. Paula didn’t have much to say about the actual performance itself, but simply commented on how Lil has managed to stay in the competition this far. Simon wasn’t at all impressed with Lil’s performance tonight, and makes very clear that Lil’s days on the show are likely numbered. To vote for Lil: 1-866-Idols-07 or Text 5707
