American Idol 4/14/09 Top 7 Idols At The Movies Theme Next Week on American Idol

Next week’s theme on American Idol (April 14, 2009) will be “Songs From The Movies“. The Top 7 American Idol finalists (Kris Allen, Anoop Desai, Matt Giraud, Danny Gokey, Allison Iraheta, Adam Lambert and Lil Rounds) will perform songs of the cinema under the guidance of director Quentin Tarantino in an “Idols at the Movies” (8:00-9:01 PM ET live/PT tape-delayed) theme next week.

Tune in on Wednesday, April 15 (9:00-10:00 PM ET live/PT tape-delayed) to find out if the judges use their save or if America sends another finalist home. Also, Season Three finalist Jennifer Hudson returns to the IDOL stage to perform her new single, “If This Isn’t Love,” and Miley Cyrus will sing “The Climb” from “Hannah Montana: The Movie.”

You may recall that Quentin Tarantino was a guest judge for Season 3’s Top 8 movie theme, so this should be a lot of fun.

Jillian Reynolds from American Idol Extra announced that next week’s theme will be Songs from the Movies.

American Idol 3/31/09 Top Downloads iTunes Recap LIVE Review-American Idol Fan Site

american-idol-top-downloads-itunesAmerican Idol 3-31-09 Top Downloads iTunes Recap and LIVE Review of American Idol Top 9 performances March 31, 2009. The Top 9 American Idol Finalists were allowed to choose ANY song they wanted to perform, as long as the song is a “top download” on iTunes.

First up is Anoop Desai singing “Caught Up” by Usher. Idol Judge Randy Jackson didn’t feel the song was right for Anoop, but said the vocals were good. Kara DioGuardi didn’t like the performance one bit. Paula Abdul said Anoop needs to work on showmanship, and didn’t agree with the song choice either. Simon Cowell said Anoop’s performance “was a complete and utter mess” and it gave Simon a headache. We didn’t care much for Anoop’s performance either, but we’ll see what happens with the votes.

Next up is Megan Joy singing “Turn The Lights Down Low” by Bob Marley. Kara DioGuardi said the song choice was wrong, wrong, wrong and that Megan’s vocal registry “became irritating”. Paula Abdul said she didn’t like it either. Simon Cowell said the song choice was “indulgent and boring”, “no one would like that song”. Randy Jackson said the song choice and performance was “like watching paint dry”. Ouch! I couldn’t agree more with the judges negative review of Megan’s song choice and performance.

Danny Gokey then took the Idol stage singing “What Hurts The Most” by Rascal Flatts. Paula Abdul said “this is where you thrive”. Simon Cowell said “it was the best performance so far”. Randy Jackson said “tonight’s show starts right here”, but Danny needs to “keep the swagger” and it was a “very nice” performance. Kara DioGuardi said “you moved everyone in this room emotionally, and it’s hard to do”.

A Moment Like This Kelly Clarkson-Clarkson Moment Like This Song Lyrics Video

kelly-clarkson-a-moment-like-thisKelly Clarkson’s song, A Moment Like This, continues to stay on the top of the Billboard music charts and for very good reason. A Moment Like This was originally recorded by American Idol’s first winner Kelly Clarkson, and the song is included on her multi-platinum album “Thankful”. The third winner of the British television show The X-Factor, Leona Lewis, also sang A Moment Like This and was awarded the prestigious Ivor Novello Award for Best Selling British Single.

“A Moment Like This” was co-written by Jorgen Eloffson and John Reid, and produced by Steve Mac and Stephen Ferrera. The song was written for the very first winner of American Idol, to be recorded as the winner’s very first single, which meant that all four American Idol finalists Kelly Clarkson, Justin Guarini, Tamyra Gray and Nikki McKibbin, had to record “A Moment Like This” just in case they became the next American Idol.
