American Idol 4/7/10 Top 9 Results – Who Got Voted Off American Idol?

This is American Idol! Last night’s Lennon/McCartney theme brought Idol fans some good performances, for a change. We’re about to find out who amongst the Top 9 will be eliminated from American Idol tonight. Here we go!

Video clips of last night’s performances by the Top 9 are shown, plus clips of comments and criticism from the Idol judges. Ryan says the Top 9 will become the Top 8, unless the judges choose to use the save vote. (Don’t hold your breath) Ryan says we’re in for some “shocking results tonight”, ruh roh! The Idol Gives Back special program starts in two weeks; more info can be found at idolgivesback.org. Special guest performances tonight include Rihanna, Jason Derulo and David Archuleta.

The Top 9 Group Performance is a Lennon/McCartney medley. Lip-synched of course, but ya gotta love Lennon and McCartney songs regardless.

Ford Commercial to the song “Will it go round in circles”. The votes are in.

Ryan has Siobhan stand and has her stand in the center of the stage. Crystal stands and she is asked to join Siobhan. Katie stands and is asked to join Crystal and Siobhan. Nerves!!!

Crystal is safe! Whew!

Siobhan and Katie are both safe!!! All the ladies are safe!

The Bottom 3 tonight are all guys! OMG!!

Adam Lambert mentors the Top 8 next week. Jason Derulo (signed by Kara) sings “In My Head” and is attempting his best imitation of Michael Jackson’s moves. Um no. Michael Jackson wannabe. Twitter peeps don’t like the performance, but Simon says “that was great”. The song sounds good but I’m definitely not liking the Jackson imitation-attempts.

David Archuleta sings John Lennon’s “Imagine” and is playing piano. David is sounding really good tonight. Good job! What’s up with that haircut David? David’s been writing, recording and says his single should be coming out soon.

Ryan says they’re going to form two groups in the center of the stage. Drum Roll….

Lee is asked to stand and is asked to go stand at the far side of the stage.

Michael Lynche stands and asked to stand near/behind Ryan (not by Lee).

Casey James stands and is sent to stand by Lee on the far side of the stage.

Aaron stands and is sent to stand next to Mike, behind Ryan. Ruh Roh!!!

Tim stands and is sent to stand by Lee and Casey.

Andrew joins Michael and Aaron.

One group is safe and the other is the Bottom 3!!! Remember, “shocking results tonight”.

Rihanna debuts her new single “Rock Star 101″. Wait, what? Wasn’t Rihanna supposed to sing “Te Amo” tonight? WTH? Rihanna’s wearing a shiny, skin-tight cat suit. “Playing” a black guitar, if you wanna call it that. Twitter peeps are NOT impressed with Rihanna’s performance tonight. No kidding.

Andrew Garcia is safe!

Michael Lynch (Big Mike) is voted off and has to sing for his life, hoping the judges use the save on him! Shocking Results Tonight is right! Wow!

MICHAEL IS SAVED! THE JUDGES USE THE SAVE ON MICHAEL LYNCH AND HE’S BACK NEXT WEEK!!!!!!

Tonight we find out who amongst the Top 11 got voted off and will be included in the Top 10 Finalists.

“This is American Idol” says Idol host Ryan Seacrest. One person is going home unless the judges use the save to keep them around. Idol judges are introduced.

Group song is up: Wham’s “Wake Me Up Be You Go Go” sung by the Top 11. Typical lip-sync job. Nothing special about it at all. The group song might be worth talking about if it was actually sung live, but it’s so obvious it’s recorded. Yawn.

Next up is the Top 11’s Ford commercial to “Our Time Now”.

Ryan explains this week’s cut is crucial. Umm, yeah. The Top 10 contestants go on tour! We’re (finally) down to finding out who the Top 10 contestants will be. Ryan talks with Casey James about his performance last night. Katie’s dad doesn’t feel it’s good for him to be there because he might jinx her chances. Siobhan’s boss is in the audience who refuses to shave until Siobhan wins. Good luck with that. Big Mike’s responsibilities as a new dad are shown.

Siobhan Magnus is safe. Lee DeWyze and Casey James are asked to stand and wait, while Tim Urban and Paige Miles are also asked to stand. Randy says he thinks Paige is in the bottom three and he’s right. Ryan says Paige Miles and Tim Urban are both in the bottom three. No surprise there. Casey and Lee are safe.

Ryan announces Usher will on the show next week. Miley Cyrus is on the piano and performs “When I Look At You”. Wow, Miley sounds umm, pitchy. Yeah, pitchy. And she was this week’s mentor. Yeah, okay. FAIL! Twitter buzz – folks say if Miley were a contestant on American Idol season 9, she’d be voted off next week and heading home.

Ryan says Idol Gives Back starts in a couple of weeks.

Aaron Kelly is safe. Didi Benami is told by Ellen DeGeneres she needs to pick better songs but she is safe.

Michael Lynch is safe. Crystal Bowersox is safe and they’re going on tour!

Katie Stevens and Andrew Garcia are asked to stand. Andrew is safe and Katie is in bottom three. Katie is announced she’s safe and can go sit down.

The final two are Paige Miles and Tim Urban.

Joe Jonas and Demi Lovato perform their duet “Make a Wave”. Awful, pitchy all over the place. Ick. Shoulda lip-synched it like the awful group song.

Randy Jackson Leaving American Idol Too…

Is Randy Jackson leaving American Idol? It was only a matter of time before news and blog reports would come out saying that Randy Jackson is leaving American Idol too, after Season 9, to join Simon Cowell and Paula Abdul on X Factor.

Randy Jackson was interviewed by the LATimes about his future on Idol, and low and behold, Jackson isn’t giving an official exit statement quite yet but…

Just like Simon Cowell and Paula Abdul did about their plans to leave American Idol, the hype and buzz about their possible plans to leave the show went on for far too long.

“We have a theory that — with Cowell leaving, Paula Abdul being a free agent for now, and (as reported) you signing a three-year extension in 2006 — the original “Idol” dream team could reunite on “The X-Factor.” Care to respond?”

Jackson replies, “You know, there’s a song by the Fray that I really love. It’s called “Never Say Never.”

In the Feb 15th edition of The National Enquirer, a tipster spills the beans that yes, Randy Jackson is leaving American Idol.

“Randy was basically told that there was a very good chance he was not going to be asked back after this season,” said the tipster. “Now that Simon’s leaving at the end of the season, they are rethinking the roles of the other judges — and that includes Randy…..”

Randy Jackson has just one more year left on his contract with FOX, and even though Jackson isn’t making an official statement quite yet, Idol fans and Jackson fans might as well start getting used to the idea that all of the original judges for American Idol are walking away from the mega-hit reality show.

What will happen to American Idol after Season 9 is anyone’s guess. Cancelled due to low ratings? Can Kara DioGuardi and Ellen DeGeneres (and any other judges or guest judges brought in) keep Idol alive, perhaps increase ratings and viewership? Personally, I highly doubt it.

Ellen DeGeneres may do well as a judge on American Idol, we’ll just have to wait and see. With Kara, I can take her or leave her, it makes no difference to me. But now that we know the hype, buzz and rumors about Randy Jackson leaving American Idol are all over the net, it’s a good guess that once Season nine is over and done with, Idol will be gone too.

Replaced by X Factor, with Simon Cowell, Paula Abdul and Randy Jackson as judges.

Simon Cowell to Leave American Idol

Rumor has it that our beloved sarcastic American Idol British judge Simon Cowell IS seriously considering or planning to leave American Idol after Season 9 ends. News is traveling fast across the internet that yes.., Simon Cowell is leaving American Idol after all, to focus his time and energies on launching the American version of X Factor.

Surprised? Not me.

I told you Simon Cowell is planning to leave Idol after next season’s Season 9 of American Idol ends months ago. We had to say goodbye to Paula Abdul and now it looks like Idol fans are also losing Cowell as well.

Remember, Simon Cowell’s contract ends in May 2010. If you recall, Simon Cowell was said to have plans to leave American Idol when he turns 50 years old. Simon Cowell is now 50 years old, since Simon’s 50th birthday bash was held two months ago.

Times of London is reporting that Simon Cowell is preparing to make an announcement about a new arrangement with Fox, where the U.S. version of X Factor will air in 2011, and his plans to leave American Idol.

“He is considering standing down as presenter of American Idol, which appears on the Fox network in the US, after its next season. The X Factor is due to begin filming in Los Angeles in September 2011, to be shown on Fox and presented by Cowell.

Cowell is currently paid about Â£22million a year by Fox to act as a judge on American Idol, which is owned by Cowell’s fellow music and TV producer Simon Fuller. For the past five years it has been the most successful TV show in America.

The filming schedule means that Cowell will be able to front at least one more series of The X Factor in Britain.

Negotiations with ITV are expected to conclude soon, people close to the deal said. Cowell has said that his loyalty is with ITV but wants it to pump money into The X Factor.

If Cowell switches from American Idol to presenting The X Factor in America, it would mark the end of his long commercial relationship with Fuller, the former Spice Girls producer.”

Cowell told a BBC interviewer that he definitely plans to launch the show (X Factor) in the US. “It has to go to America. There has to be an American version of the show,” he said. “To not take ‘The X Factor’ to the biggest market in the world would be crazy.”

One can only speculate about the reasons why Ellen DeGeneres was brought in as the new fourth judge, but with Simon Cowell apparently leaving Idol, what’s the point of hiring a new judge? Tick, Tick, Tick goes the time bomb perhaps?

What will happen to the American Idol show is yet to be determined, but do you hear the tick, tick, ticking of the time bomb yet? Will you stick around to watch American Idol with Simon Cowell and Paula Abdul both gone? Rumor has it that if Simon Cowell leaves American Idol for sure, instead of the regular teasing of staying vs. leaving, Idol will cease to exist in no time flat.

Ellen DeGeneres American Idol‘s new fourth judge and stepping in as the Paula Abdul replacement? WTH? FOX announced that Ellen DeGeneres, the mega-talented comedian and talk-show host with twenty plus years as a music industry producer big-wig…errrrr, sorry about that…will be the new 4th judge on American Idol. Ellen DeGeneres is an amazing comedian, one of the funniest comedy acts around, but an American Idol Judge??? Why? My guess is the bottom line…ratings.

Is having Ellen as a judge on Idol a good plan? Will you still watch American Idol with Ellen as the new judge? Did FOX screw up big-time choosing Ellen as a judge and you don’t plan on watching when Season 9 starts?

Here is the new American Idol Judge announcement, straight from FOX:

“Emmy Award winning talk show host Ellen DeGeneres has joined AMERICAN IDOL as a fourth judge. DeGeneres will sit alongside Simon Cowell, Randy Jackson and Kara DioGuardi and offer her own unique perspective to the contestants throughout the competition.

The ninth season of AMERICAN IDOL premieres January 2010 on FOX. DeGeneres will join the judges’ panel after the auditions, which will feature appearances by guest judges Victoria Beckham, Mary J. Blige, Kristin Chenoweth, Joe Jonas, Neil Patrick Harris, Avril Lavigne, Katy Perry and Shania Twain.

“I’m thrilled to be the new judge on AMERICAN IDOL,” said DeGeneres. ”I’ve watched since the beginning, and I’ve always been a huge fan. So getting this job is a dream come true, and think of all the money I’ll save from not having to text in my vote.”

“I could not be more excited to have Ellen join the AMERICAN IDOL family,” said creator and executive producer Simon Fuller. “Ellen has been a fan of the show for many years, and her love of music and her understanding of the American public will bring her own unique human touch to our judging panel. American Idol fans are perplexed and internet reactions are mixed, of course. American Idol fan and popular blogger MJ Santilli at mjsbigblog.com took the words right out of my mouth when she wrote, “I mean, really? Ellen DeGeneres?” She guest judged ‘So You Think You Can Dance’ last season, and her critiques were comic relief. So is she going to be a real judge or some kind of joke? She’s a comedian, not a singer or a musician. I’m kinda flummoxed here.” No kidding!

Ellen DeGeneres is the new Paula Abdul replacement. Hmm, who would have guessed this one?! Ellen will join the Idol judges’ panel after the Season 9 American Idol Auditions are completed. Featured guest judges include Victoria Beckham, Mary J. Blige, Kristin Chenoweth, Joe Jonas, Neil Patrick Harris, Avril Lavigne, Katy Perry and Shania Twain. The 9th season of American Idol premieres January 2010.

Megan Joy Won’t Take Back Simon Cowell Insult

Former American Idol contestant, Megan Joy, will appear on The Ellen DeGeneres Show on Monday’s April 13 Ellen show and says she “wouldn’t take back” her insult comment to Idol judge Simon Cowell. In the pre-taped episode on Ellen, Megan Joy says she “doesn’t care” that Simon didn’t like her song or her performance and has no regrets.

Things got pretty heated between Megan Joy and Simon Cowell following Megan’s performance of Bob Marley’s “Turn The Lights Down Low”, with Simon Cowell calling her performance “indulgent, boring and monotonous”. Ouch! That had to hurt! On Wednesday’s American Idol Top Downloads Results Show, Ryan Seacrest asked Megan what she thought of Simon’s comments, Megan said, “I love you Simon, but I really don’t care”.

Widely viewed as an insult, US Magazine reports that Megan Joy had no idea that her comment would be upsetting to Simon. “I really had no idea that it was going to upset him, but I meant it and I wouldn’t take it back,” says 23-year-old Megan.

After being voted off American Idol on Wednesday’s Results Show, it was clear that the Idol judges were not going to use their one and only save on Megan Joy. Not a chance in a million. Simon snapped, “With the greatest respect, when you said you didn’t care [about my comments], neither do we. We’re not going to pretend to contemplate saving you. This your swan song. That’s it.”

Given Megan’s disrespectful and insulting comment, Megan literally blew her chances of being saved and it came as no surprise that the judges weren’t going to save Megan for another round of American Idol performances. Had Megan not spoken those words to Simon, she may have been saved. What Megan’s motivation was in saying those fateful words to Simon, that ultimately sealed her fate on the show, may have been her own way of dealing with the hurt she must have been feeling going into the results show.

On Monday’s show, Ellen DeGeneres asks Megan if her odd, bird-like “caw caw” flapping arms moment was her way of mocking the show. Megan replied, “No, I just woke-up feeling like it was my time to go, and I just said to myself: ‘You know what, if I go, I’m going to go out with a bang and enjoy it,’” she says. “So I just tried to have a good attitude.”

Having a “good attitude” while suspecting it’s your time to go home is one thing, but one can only wonder if her snappy retort to Simon Cowell was the best thing to do at the very moment the Idol judges were deciding whether to save her from elimination. Nevertheless, Megan Joy tells Ellen DeGeneres that she’s “absolutely” glad she did the show. “I just thought, never in a million years would I make it,” she says. “It wasn’t that I don’t adore the show and watch, I was just like, ‘I’m never going to make it.’”

Megan Joy has been making the talk show rounds since being voted off American Idol, appearing on “Live with Regis and Kelly” and “Good Day Utah”, and tomorrow’s Ellen DeGeneres show. Check your local listings in order to watch Megan Joy on The Ellen DeGeneres Show.

Jennifer Hudson to Perform on American Idol

Jennifer Hudson to perform on American Idol? Yes, Jennifer Hudson will be taping a performance on Wednesday, March 25th in front of the American Idol studio audience after the live broadcast has ended.

Grammy and Oscar award-winning actress Jennifer Hudson, 27, will perform on American Idol this week, although FOX has not confirmed the performance. Jennifer’s Idol performance will be aired at a later date.

Past American Idol finalist, Jennifer Hudson, will most likely perform a song from her self-titled debut CD, which won the Grammy for best R&B album in February, but there is yet no word on what song Jennifer Hudson will perform.

The ticket voucher for the show says “the second taping of Wednesday is the LIVE performance show with special performances by Jennifer Hudson and Ruben Studdard.”

Wednesday’s Idol performance will be Hudson’s first time on the American Idol stage following the murders of her mother, brother and 7-year-old nephew. Hudson’s Grammy performance of “You Pulled Me Through” was simply astounding, as was Hudson’s Super Bowl performance singing the National Anthem.

Jennifer Hudson, a finalist on American Idol’s third season, will begin her first national tour on March 31, along with Robin Thicke.

Jennifer Hudson will also appear on Thursday’s (March 26) Ellen DeGeneres Show to perform her single, “If This Isn’t Love” LIVE, and I can’t help but wonder if the song Jennifer Hudson will perform on American Idol isn’t “If This Isn’t Love” too. We’ll just have to wait and see.
