You’d have to be living under a rock not to have heard about The Voice on NBC, which premiered this past Tuesday, with a repeat performance shown on Wednesday night. American Idol just might have some strong competition for ratings and viewership now that fans have had an opportunity to watch The Voice, and seen how refreshing the new singing show is.

As an avid fan of American Idol, beginning with Kelly Clarkson’s spectacular win with that magnificent voice of hers, as well as the many other past American Idol contestants who have gone on to do great things in their chosen music career, I’m hooked on The Voice. What a great show NBC has created, masterfully chosen musician coaches (not judges, like on Idol), and the brilliant concept of having singers perform blind auditions where each singer is heard but not seen. Genius!

The Voice coaches include mega-star Christina Aguilera, Cee Lo Green, Blake Shelton (a cutie-pie) and Maroon Five’s Adam Levine. Carson Daly serves as host of the show. NBC announced today that country star Reba McEntire, Sia (Furler), Monica, and music producer Adam Blackstone will be joining The Voice as advisers, lending their vast knowledge, experience and talents to the mix.

These advisers will be assisting the four coaches on The Voice show during the “Battles” phase in the competition, to help improve the contestants singing abilities and improve their chances of winning the competition. Christina Aguilera will be teaming up with singer/songwriter Sia, Adam Levine with Maroon 5 Music Director Blackstone, Cee Lo Green with singer Monica, and Blake Shelton with veteran singer Reba.

“The Voice” blind auditions premiered on Tuesday to big ratings, averaging 11.8 million viewers and a 5.1 rating in the adults 18-49 demographic. The Wednesday repeat encore of the new NBC series garnered 6 million viewers on Wednesday. Not too shabby! Choosing a favorite team of contestants is going to be challenging, and fans of the show may find they’re rooting for more than one team.

Will it be Team Xtina? Team Cee Lo? Team Blake or Team Adam? So far, each of the teams have some incredibly talented singers, but I’m holding out on the decision of which team to rally around until all of the contestants are selected into their various teams. Fans of NBC’s The Voice show will want to follow along with all the news and updates about their favorite contestants and coaches, so be sure to follow The Voice Facebook fan page and follow The Voice on Twitter to root for your favorite teams and contestants.

The show’s unique format features three stages of competition. The first phase begins with the blind auditions, then it moves into a battle phase, and then live performance shows. During the blind audition phase, singers sing their song with the judges coaches backs turned, so only the singers voice is heard and no pre-judgements can be made based on physical appearance at all. Brilliant!!!

During these blind auditions, if a coach is impressed with the vocal ability he or she is hearing, pushing a button in front of their chair causes the chair to swivel around so the coach can then be face to face with the contestant. Pushing the button also indicates the coach has selected the contestant to be on his or her team of competitors.

If more than one coach pushes the button and their chair turns around to see the contestant, thereby also selecting the singer, the power shifts to the contestant. The contestant must then choose which coach he or she wants to work with throughout the competition. Any contestant who is not selected by at least one coach pushing their button before the singer is finished with their song is automatically eliminated from the competition.

Once the final teams are chosen, the battle begins. The Voice coaches will mentor the contestants and make them over, ultimately transforming them into stars in the music industry. To help them decide who they want to advance, the coaches will pit two of their own team members against each other to sing the same song in front of a studio audience. Based on the individual performances, the coaches must pick who they want to continue coaching and who will be sent home.

In the final live performance phase of the competition, the top contestants from each team will compete against each other during a live broadcast. The television audience will vote to select who will move on from each team and who will be eliminated. Finally, each coach will have their absolute best contestant left standing to compete in the finale. From these four, one will be named “The Voice” and will receive the grand prize of a life-altering recording contract.

I can’t wait to watch and see how The Voice tv show turns out throughout the competition series and who fans will choose as their favorite(s). Will The Voice become the new and improved American Idol???

Tonight’s double elimination of TWO American Idol contestants may or may not come as a shock, depending on who your favorite Idol contestants are. Last night’s performances of Elton John songs was entertaining to say the least. However, two are going home tonight, and there are no save votes the Idol judges can use to save anyone being kicked off the show tonight. Who will it be?

Season 10 of American Idol has almost made AI fans forget the last two years of dismal ratings and so-so singing talent. This season of Idols has some spectacular talent, great singing voices with enormous range and abilities, and some of the contestants already show stage presence so that we can almost (almost) feel as though we’re sitting in their concert. So, who will be voted off tonight on American Idol is anyone’s guess, but AI prediction tools may or may not indicate who is most likely to be sent home.

According to the typically used, nearly almost always right American Idol prediction tool, the Bottom 3 contestants tonight are most likely going to be Thia Megia, Paul McDonald and Stefano Langone. Lauren Alaina and Naima Adedapo aren’t far behind the others either.

Based on American Idol predictions, Stefano Langone apparently received the lowest number of votes and is most likely to be the contestant sent home tonight. It does not appear as though last week’s close call to be sent home (Casey Abrams) is at risk of elimination tonight at all. Prediction tools suggest Casey is safe, for now. The contestants that appear to be doing just fine in getting America behind them and voting them up with high numbers are Scotty McCreery, Jacob Lusk, Pia Toscano, Casey Abrams and Haley Reinhart.

Surprisingly enough, American Idol’s rocker James Durbin is shown in the upper end of the ‘yellow’ range – meaning not exactly safe (in the ‘green’ zone), nor does James appear anywhere near the bottom of the list. Based on the Idol prediction tools, I would venture a guess that the contestant being voted off American Idol tonight will be Stefano Langone, having received the lowest vote numbers.

Stefano has a great voice too, but as the Idol judges have commented numerous times throughout the competition thus far, he hasn’t been connecting with the audience and continues to close his eyes while singing. He might as well be singing to himself in the shower, instead of singing his heart out in hopes of winning American Idol’s tenth season.

Who will end up in the bottom 2 spot (along with Stefano) will likely be Thia Megia or Paul McDonald, but we’ll just have to wait and see what happens. Tonight’s guest performers for tonight’s double elimination will be Season 3 alum Fantasia, Will.I.Am and Jamie Foxx, intermixed of course as the results are narrowed down and announced in between performances. will.i.am and Jamie Foxx are scheduled to perform “Hot Wings (I Wanna Party)”, and Fantasia is set to sing her hit song “Collard Greens and Cornbread” from her Back To Me album.

After last week’s non-elimination shocking results show, this week’s theme of singing Elton John songs will result in two American Idol contestants being voted off tomorrow night. The Top 11 Idols will be reduced down to the Top 9 in one fell swoop since the Idol judges have already used their one save vote on Casey Abrams. Yes, we’ll be here for the results to bring you who got kicked off American Idol, so stay tuned.

“This is American Idol!”. Idol judges Randy Jackson, Jennifer Lopez and Steven Tyler take the stage, followed by host Ryan Seacrest. Everyone is still buzzing about last week’s save of Casey, says Ryan, then gleefully introduces the Top 11 Idols to the stage. First to sing is Scotty McCreery sings “Country Comfort” by Sir Elton John. 1-866-436-5701, or vote online at American Idol. Elton John goes country with Scotty singing. Steven Tyler loved the performance saying “you did it again for me Scotty”. Jennifer says Scotty has amazing instincts and it was a good performance. Randy Jackson says he felt as though he was sitting in a concert with Scotty singing that song; that Scotty is that good. Whether Scotty McCreery ultimately wins American Idol or not, he’ll definitely have a career in country music.

Next up is Naima Adedapo singing Elton’s song called “I’m Still Standing” (reggae swag version). Phone number to vote for Naima is 1-866-436-5702 or vote online. Jennifer Lopez likes the reggae swag but she’s not sure this song was best suited for switching it up this way, but Jennifer loves how Naima performs. Randy agrees with Jennifer. Randy says it came across kinda corny (yep it did) and it really didn’t work in his opinion (or mine). Steven Tyler simply says “good for you for picking a song that picks you”, so apparently he liked it. Really Steven?

Paul McDonald chooses to sing “Rocket Man” by Elton John and play his guitar. 1-866-436-5703, or vote online at AmericanIdol.com. Paul’s crazy, loud, wild white suit with flashy flowers is very distracting but funny too. Randy Jackson says there were pitchy parts, and feels Paul has more power in his voice than he seems to know himself because he keeps his voice so soft all the time. Jennifer agrees that Paul needs to let the power come out in his voice. Steven Tyler says Paul always does something a little different; some songs are great and others not so much. Jennifer interrupts (again) to tell Paul to “push” himself and do more with his vocal range. Paul basically sang Rocket Man like a baby lullaby, and nearly put at least some of us to sleep.

Next up to sing is Pia Toscano, singing Elton’s song “Don’t Let The Sun Go Down On Me”. 1-866-436-5704, or vote online. Steven Tyler says “you’ve done it again!” Pia’s been criticized for singing ballad after ballad, but as Steven Tyler says “it’s about as good as it gets”. Jennifer agrees and actually admits she doesn’t know what to say since it’s obvious Pia is trying to “break the barrier”. Randy Jackson says Pia slayed every ballad she sings but he just wants her to switch it up a little bit, and compared Pia to a few famous female singers. The judges all ask Pia to pick something with next week’s theme to “surprise us”, a little uptempo faster paced song where Pia can move around and command the stage. (During the commercial break, Pia says if she’s kept in the competition and not voted off tomorrow night, she’ll be singing “River Deep Mountain High” next week). Sweet!

Stefano Langone sings “Tiny Dancer” by Elton John. 1-866-436-5705, or vote online at Americanidol.com. Jennifer Lopez says she could really feel the song, that Stefano is “back to the guy we all love”. Randy says Stefano kept his eyes open and was connected to the audience, moved around the stage, and hit each note perfectly. Steven Tyler says there’s something sweet to Stefano’s voice, although a little “broadway”, but he nailed it. It’s obvious that Stefano listened carefully to the judges critiques from previous week’s because he’s getting better and better with each performance.

Lauren Alaina is up next singing “Candle In The Wind” by Elton John. 1-866-436-5706 or vote online at American Idol. Randy Jackson says that’s one of the greatest songs by Elton John and one of the greatest performance by Lauren Alaina; he loved it. Steven Tyler says it was just perfect; “keep singing like that and she’ll be able to afford the rest of that dress” hahaha! Jennifer Lopez says finally America heard what the judges hear when Alaina sings. Alaina really sounded great tonight; she’s growing on me for sure.

James Durbin rocks out Elton John’s song “Saturday Night’s Alright (for Fighting)”. Dial 1-866-436-5707 to vote for James, or vote online. Steven Tyler says James “brought the heat, has a great rock voice, it was a beautiful thing”. Jennifer Lopez says she forget it’s still a competition vs a full-on concert by a great artist. Randy Jackson loved it, saying it was obvious James was enjoying himself and having a good time. “Dude, That was a great, great, great performance” says Randy. James is in it to win it with that performance tonight!

Thia Megia is up next singing “Daniel” by Elton John. Vote online or dial 1-866-436-5708. Jennifer Lopez says “that was really beautiful” and she really likes what she’s seeing with this weeks’ contestants and it was a very beautiful moment for Thia. Randy Lopez likes the “relaxed side” of Thia’s voice, a little pitchy in spots, but still a bit safe for her. Steven Tyler says Thia sang a great Elton John song well. I didn’t hear any pitchiness at all, so I don’t know what Randy is talking about, but I do agree that Thia is still choosing safe songs even though it seemed she was really connecting with the song and the audience. Overall, Thia did a great job tonight.

Casey Abrams was saved last week with the judge’s one vote, so hopefully he’ll do America right tonight and be kept around. Tonight Casey is singing “Your Song” by Elton John. 1-866-436-5709 to vote for Casey, or vote online. Randy Jackson says that saving Casey was one of the best things they’ve done and that the performance was very well done. Steven Tyler agrees that putting Casey through and saving him last week was the right decision, and that Casey is a “true artist”. The judges loved the final high note especially. Jennifer Lopez says she’s lost sleep over some of the contestants who didn’t make it through but she slept like a baby when the judges saved Casey last week; she loved the performance.

Jacob Lusk is up next singing Elton John’s song “Sorry Seems to Be the Hardest Word”. 1-866-436-5710 or vote online. Steven Tyler says Jacob slayed it, it was very moving and beautiful. Jennifer Lopez congratulates Jacob for the entire performance, especially the first half but loved the entire song. Randy Jackson loved the song choice and performance, and surprisingly enough, Jacob actually controlled himself from going to the usual high note he’s known for. Randy says with each song sung by Jacob, he wants one spot of the song to be where Jacob does his thing with the “high Jacob note” – Randy says, give it to me. Jacob did a great job controlling his sometimes over-exuberant tendency to go extremely high, but since hearing this more controlled song, I actually wished Jacob had done his high note. When ya got it, ya got it.

Last to sing tonight is Haley Reinhart. She’s singing Elton’s song “Bennie and the Jets”. Vote online or dial 1-866-436-5711. Jennifer Lopez says “that was it Haley, that was it Haley!” It all came together! “Amazing” says Jennifer. Randy Jackson says “best performance of the night right there!” Steven Tyler says “you sing sexy”. Haley really did do a great job with her performance tonight. You can tell she’s growing and taking the judges comments seriously and doing her best to incorporate their advice. Very good night of performances.

American Idol Season 10 doesn’t start until January 2011 but FOX and AI’s Executive Producer Nigel Lythgoe have been very busy making big changes to the show in apparent hopes to revive the popularity and ratings of American Idol. Season 9 wasn’t very memorable in many people’s views, including mine. Simon Cowell ran off into the sunset to do X Factor, Kara DioGuardi got the boot, Paula Abdul has been gone awhile, leaving sole original judge Randy Jackson to carry on.

Yeah, we’ve got the new judges team of Randy Jackson, Jennifer Lopez and Steve Tyler on board. Yawn. Nigel Lythgoe announced recently that the Top 24 contestants is no more, but American Idol contestants will move right on to the Top 12 after Hollywood. AI is keeping the theme weeks, but the challenges contestants will face with the new season have increased.

According to TVGuide.com, there will be “contests to make the best music video, to promote themselves, and to work with a band and dancers for an awards show-style performance.” Whether or not American Idol will return to the early glory days of high ratings remains to be seen, but some industry observers are expecting ratings to decline from last year after the initial curiosity seekers get their fill. American Idol fans have been anxious for new cd releases from their favorite AI contestants, and they’re needs have been met by new cd’s released from Season 9 winner Kris Allen, Adam “Glambert” Lambert, Crystal Bowersox, David Cook, Allison Iraheta, Lee DeWyze, Danny Gokey, Jordin Sparks, Chris Daughtry and even Tim Urban.

Previous American Idol contestants Carrie Underwood and Kelly Clarkson cd and complete album downloads are on the top of many people’s to-do list this holiday season. Let’s also not forget to consider the popular who got kicked off American Idol boot song Leave Right Now by Will Young, played at the end of the show each time a contestant gets voted off, my personal favorite boot song to date.

This is American Idol! Last night’s Lennon/McCartney theme brought Idol fans some good performances, for a change. We’re about to find out who amongst the Top 9 will be eliminated from American Idol tonight. Here we go!

Video clips of last night’s performances by the Top 9 are shown, plus clips of comments and criticism from the Idol judges. Ryan says the Top 9 will become the Top 8, unless the judges choose to use the save vote. (Don’t hold your breath) Ryan says we’re in for some “shocking results tonight”, ruh roh! The Idol Gives Back special program starts in two weeks; more info can be found at idolgivesback.org. Special guest performances tonight include Rihanna, Jason Derulo and David Archuleta.

The Top 9 Group Performance is a Lennon/McCartney medley. Lip-synched of course, but ya gotta love Lennon and McCartney songs regardless.

Ford Commercial to the song “Will it go round in circles”. The votes are in.

Ryan has Siobhan stand and has her stand in the center of the stage. Crystal stands and she is asked to join Siobhan. Katie stands and is asked to join Crystal and Siobhan. Nerves!!!

Adam Lambert mentors the Top 8 next week. Jason Derulo (signed by Kara) sings “In My Head” and is attempting his best imitation of Michael Jackson’s moves. Um no. Michael Jackson wannabe. Twitter peeps don’t like the performance, but Simon says “that was great”. The song sounds good but I’m definitely not liking the Jackson imitation-attempts.

David Archuleta sings John Lennon’s “Imagine” and is playing piano. David is sounding really good tonight. Good job! What’s up with that haircut David? David’s been writing, recording and says his single should be coming out soon.

Ryan says they’re going to form two groups in the center of the stage. Drum Roll….

The American Idol Top 9 contestants have their work cut out for them with next week’s Lennon/McCartney Beatles songs theme. Season 9 hasn’t been a fan favorite thus far, having been deemed the worst season since the show began.

Hopefully the top nine finalists will perform their chosen songs like it could be their last time on stage – because someone is going to be voted off next week and sent packin’. Yes Tim, it’s past time for you to be shown the door and sent home.

Idol’s final nine contestants will choose songs from the John Lennon/Paul McCartney songbook. This is the third season in the history of Idol that contestants have access to songs by Lennon and McCartney – excluding Beatles songs written and owned by George Harrison and his estate.

Rihanna will appear on Idol’s elimination results show to perform her new single “Te Amo”.

America voted off Didi Benami last night, leaving the remaining top 9 contestants to sing for their lives in America’s “favorite” singing competition, despite the fact that American Idol ratings are dropping steadily.

Perhaps Ryan Seacrest and Simon Cowell could finally stop the time-wasting bantering back and forth, and get on with the show. Good “time fillers” you’re not.

Will Young’s “Leave Right Now” is the name of the American Idol elimination song at the end of American Idol 9 when a contestant is kicked off the show. Some refer to this popular song as the “boot” song, elimination song or exit song. With the bad reviews season 9 has been receiving thus far, horrible singing and poor song choice by many contestants, there is at least a lot of interest in Will Young’s song.

Leave Right Now is listed as number four on Young’s Friday’s Child album, which includes a total of 11 songs.

UPDATED – American Idol Spoiler Alert! FOX has released a press release saying some of the American Idol Top 24 Contestants for Season 9 will be revealed tomorrow night (Tuesday, February 16, 2010) and the rest of the Top 24 will be announced on Wednesday night.

Of course, spoilers have already been published all over the internet, so the names of the Top 24 contestants revealed should not come as a surprise to anyone.

Remaining Semifinalists Announced Wednesday, February 17

In an AMERICAN IDOL first, some of the Top 24 semifinalists will be revealed in a special two-hour event airing Tuesday, Feb. 16 (8:00-10:00 PM ET/PT) on FOX.

On Tuesday evening, the remaining contestants will take the stage to perform their final solo number in front of Simon, Ellen, Kara and Randy in hopes of singing their way into the Top 24.

Following these performances, the judges will deliberate, and for the first time in IDOL history, will announce some of the Top 24 semifinalists.

“Tune in Wednesday, Feb. 17 (9:00-10:00 PM ET/PT) as the judges reveal the remaining contestants who will round out the Top 24.”

American Idol Christmas 2009. American Idol fans are thrilled to know that there are several American Idol albums being released in time for the 2009 Christmas holiday season. Past American Idol contestants have been diligently working on releasing new albums for the fans, and it will be interesting to see who sells the most albums in the American Idol Christmas shopping war.

Even with the economy being as it is, in what some refer to as a continuing Recession Christmas, quite a few American Idols are hoping fans will make this year a great Christmas in music and album sales.

American Idol gifts are building in popularity and momentum, especially the American Idol Wii game and the American Idol Microphone, so if you or someone you know is a mega-American Idol fan, here are a few Christmastime new album releases to order in time for Christmas.

Kris Allen – The new Kris Allen debut album is being released on November 17 and can be pre-ordered now to lock-in the price, with a yet-to-be-determined title and gift-wrapping options.

Adam Lambert – Adam announced on Twitter that new album will be released on November 24, one week after Kris Allen’s album drops, and can be pre-ordered now. The title has not yet been announced.

Allison Iraheta – Allison Iraheta’s new album is set to be released later this fall (tentative date of November 10) and can be pre-ordered now, in time for Christmas and filling those Christmas stockings. There is still no news on the cd title or tracklist of songs, sorry.

Blake Lewis – Blake Lewis’ new cd album “Heartbreak On Vinyl” is set to be released October 6, 2009 and can be pre-ordered now. Blake’s lead single on his new album, “Sad Songs”, is available on iTunes or Amazon. Lewis’ cd “Audio Day Dream” was a hit amongst many Blake fans, and his new cd is expected to be a favorite as well.

Katharine McPhee – Katharine’s new album “Unbroken” can be pre-ordered now, originally set to be released on October 6, but the release date has since been changed to January 5, 2010. Darn. The track list of songs on the 13-song sophomore album includes the album’s first single “Had It All”, which is available on iTunes or Amazon.

David Archuleta – David’s new Christmas cd entitled “Christmas From The Heart” has a release date of October 13, and can be pre-ordered now. Songs titles on this 12-song cd reportedly include old favorites “Joy To The World”, “O Come All Ye Faithful”, “The First Noel”, “I’ll Be Home For Christmas, “O Holy Night”, “Silent Night”, “What Child Is This”, “Mother’s Lullaby”, “Angels We Have Heard On High”, “Ave Maria”, “Riu Riu Chiu” and “Patapan”.

Jason Castro – Jason Castro’s new album “Let’s Just Fall In Love Again” is set to be released on November 17 and is available for pre-order now. The lead song on Jason’s upcoming album is of course Jason’s charming new single “Let’s Just Fall In Love Again”, and is now available for download on iTunes or Amazon.

American Idol 4/21/09 is here finally! The American Idol Top 7 sing DISCO tonight, and we’re here LIVE to watch the Idol performances and bring you the judges comments and VIDEO of the performances. There have been various “American Idol Spoilers” circulating the net about what songs each of the Top 7 will sing tonight, but there are also many trustworthy people saying the “spoilers” are fakes, and that’s why we’re not posting any spoilers unless we have every reason to believe they’re real.

It’s DISCO night on American Idol! “This is American Idol!” Ryan Seacrest reminds us that on tomorrow night’s Results show, TWO of the Idol TOP 7 will be voted off American Idol, so remember to VOTE!

Lil Rounds is first up singing “I’m Every Woman” by Chaka Khan. Lil Rounds is doing a pretty good job with her performance tonight, but let’s see what the judges have to say. Randy Jackson says “it sounded so wild” and “didn’t really show us what kind of vocal control you can have”. Kara DioGuardi said “I’m not sure it was worth the wait” and Lil “still didn’t tell me who you are as an artist”. Paula Abdul says Lil was “hot tonight” but “didn’t make the boiling point”. Simon Cowell says he’s glad Lil had fun but thinks this week is Lil’s “final shot”. Wow, all four Idol judges weren’t at all pleased with Lil Rounds performance. I didn’t think it was THAT bad! Kris Allen is next to perform and he’s singing “She Works Hard For The Money” by Donna Summer. Kris is playing the guitar, and Kris’ performance is quite a bit slower and more mellow than the version Donna Summer did during the Disco days. Kris definitely changed things up and made the song his own, but I don’t know if I like this one personally, but that’s only because I love me some Donna Summer. Kara DioGuardi says Kris “took a big risk but it paid of big time”. Paula Abdul says the performance had a “classy” style to it, also commenting on Kris’ outfit. Simon Cowell said “that was not karaoke”, “was original and a fantastic performance”. Randy Jackson says Kris is “ready for the big time”. Danny Gokiey takes the Idol stage singing “September” by Earth, Wind and Fire. Paula Abdul is dancing at her seat, and I can see why.

Danny is sounding pretty darn good tonight! Overall, I liked Danny’s performance. Randy Jackson says he was a bit worried but that Danny “really turned this to work it out for you”. Kara DioGuardi says Danny is an “incredible vocalist” and his “pitch is always on”. Paula Abdul says Danny “has one of the sexiest voices” and women of all ages will love Danny Gokey. Allison Iraheta is singing “Hot Stuff” by Donna Summer. Allison is really rockin’ her performance tonight! Wow Allison! I am soooo going to download Allison’s performance!!! Randy Jackson says “it was a little over-indulgent” but that Allison is “one of the best singers” in the competition but didn’t really like the arrangement. Kara DioGuardi also didn’t like the arrangement, but agrees with Randy that her vocals were excellent. Paula Abdul says Allison “hit it out of the park” and Simon Cowell says it “was a brilliant performance”. The moment American Idol is over tonight, I’m downloading Hot Stuff immediately! Adam Lambert is next up, singing “If I Can’t Have You” by the Bee Gees. Adam Lambert is simply spectacular tonight in my opinion, but the haters will say Adam was screaming and screeching. Whatever. Randy Jackson says “you are ready right now”, saying “he is a Hot One tonight America!” Kara DioGuardi says the way Adam connects with the audience is inspiring, and says the performance was spectacular. Paula Abdul appears choked up, with lips quivering and says “you will be in the finals”. Simon Cowell says “the vocals were immaculate”. Simon Cowell is clapping his hands for Adam’s performance! Next up is Matt Giraud singing “Staying Alive” by the Bee Gees. I really like Matt Giraud and I enjoy listening to Matt sing, but I don’t care much when he attempts to sing too high for his vocal range ability, as he does in this performance. Randy Jackson didn’t like the song choice, didn’t like the arrangement but says “you can really sing dude”. Kara says the “vocals were pretty good”, a good/solid performance. Paula Abdul says after tonight’s performance, Matt “is staying”. Simon Cowell says the performance came across as “desperate”, with no originality and “not a huge fan of that one”. Uh-Oh Matt?! Last to sing tonight is Anoop Desai singing “Dim All The Lights” by Donna Summer. Randy Jackson says that Anoop can sing too “nice, baby nice”. Kara DioGuardi says the song sounded like it could have been played on the radio. Paula says Anoop needs to smile more and enjoyed the uptempo part. Simon Cowell says “it was mediocre at best”, a “horrible version of that song”, “genuinely your worst performance”. Uh Oh Anoop! I didn’t like that one at all!
