American Idol 4/21/11 Top 7 Results – Who Got Voted Off American Idol Tonight

Last night’s 21st Century performances by the Top 7 were pretty darn good, but one of the contestants is getting the boot tonight. Online polls and predictions of who will be voted off each week have been notoriously wrong for weeks, so there’s no point in even attempting to predict tonight’s results. Some American Idol watchers feel it’s past the time for Stefano Langone to go home, and IF Dial Idol predictions are correct this time around, they may get their wish. But, Dial Idol hasn’t exactly been right on the money for some time now. According to DI, Stefano received the lowest number of votes and is most likely the contestant being sent home tonight. We’ll see about that when Ryan makes the announcement.

This is American Idol! The judges make their entrance, followed by Ryan Seacrest. Ryan says tonight is going to be “another difficult elimination”. The Top 7 will soon become the Top 6, as the contestants are introduced. Over 52 million votes came in last night, says Ryan. Katy Perry will be singing tonight, and David Cook will debut his latest single.

“Hey Soul Sister” by Train is being sung by Haley Reinhart, Lauren Alaina, Jacob Lusk and Stefano Langone. Nah, this group doesn’t really sound good together. Harmony is lacking.

The Ford commercial video “World” is played.

“Viva La Vida” by Cold Play is sung by Casey Abrams, Scotty McCreery and James Durbin. The guys at least sound better harmony-wise than the other group song did.

Casey is asked to stand up. Jacob also stands as requested. Both of these guys sounded very good last night, and the judges liked their performances. Jacob explains the music track mishap when he first began singing and how he just kept going. Casey is SAFE! Jacob is in the Bottom 3 tonight.

David Cook takes the stage singing his new single “The Last Goodbye” from his new album of the same name.

The Top 7 were treated to some fun activities during the week (when not rehearsing) like bowling, going to a Dodgers game, spa treatments, etc. Relaxation time for the contestants.

Lauren, James and Stefano are called center stage. Stefano is in the Bottom 3 tonight. James and Lauren are SAFE!

Haley and Scotty are called center stage. Scotty is SAFE and Haley is in the Bottom 3 tonight and takes a seat next to the two guys.

Bottom three: Haley Reinhart, Stefano Langone and Jacob Lusk.

Ryan whispered to Haley to follow him to the center stage and tells her she’s SAFE and returns to the couches. Haley is SAFE!

The Bottom 2 are Jacob Lusk and Stefano Langone. Who’s getting voted off tonight America?

Katy Perry sings her hit single E.T. with Kanye West from the album of the same name.

Jacob Lusk and Stefano Langone are center stage listening to the judges critiques of their performances and how far they’ve both come in the competition. They both have the summer tour and the finale to participate in, so no matter what happens, they have a future ahead of them in the music business.

Jacob Lusk is SAFE and Stefano Langone is voted off American Idol! Stefano closes the show singing “Lately”.

Last night’s Idol Rock n Roll Hall of Fame performances with the Top 9 had some great moments, and some not-so-great moments. Predictions of who could be voted off tonight on American Idol seem to favor Stefano Langone as the likely person to get the boot, or possibly Jacob Lusk. Why would Jacob be sent home?

Not because of Jacob’s song choice or performance last night, but solely due to the horrific comment he made after finishing his performance. It didn’t sit well at all with many American Idol blogs and Idol fans. Whether his negative comment will send Jacob home tonight remains to be seen. Season 10 has some amazingly talented singers and performers, but someone has got to go. Who will it be? Stefano? Jacob? Paul?

Let’s find out! Drum Roll please!

“This is American Idol!” Ryan says tonight COULD be a “shocking” elimination. The Top 9 perform a medley of Rock and Roll songs as the group performance. “I Love Rock and Roll”; “My Baby Just Wrote Me a Letter”; “Sweet Home Alabama”. The group performances are always so lame, but we just have to grin and bear it. The Ford commercial with the Top 9 is shown.

Russell Brand video clip is shown of him showing up as a surprise to help the contestants practice stage presence, moving around the stage prior to their performances last night. Russell is a funny guy, silliness all around.

Past American Idol contestant from Season 4 Constantine Mouralis is here singing “Unchained Melody”. Very different than the original (better) version. Since when is this song a rock song anyway? The audience seems to like it but I’m not feelin’ it. Constantine is on the road, doing a lot of “rock of ages” shows and he’s a new father.

PIA TOSCANO IS VOTED OFF AMERICAN IDOL TONIGHT!!!! WTH???!!!! The audience is booing, everyone is in shock. Jennifer Lopez is crying, Randy is shocked and says Pia is one the best singers in the competition, and Steven Tyler agrees. Randy says “this makes me mad”.

The judges all implore Idol fans that if you want your favorite to stick around, you’ve Got to VOTE!!!! Pia Toscano is kicked off American Idol! What the Hell?! The audience is furious, judges are furious. This is definitely a Shocking elimination tonight!

Tonight’s double elimination of TWO American Idol contestants may or may not come as a shock, depending on who your favorite Idol contestants are. Last night’s performances of Elton John songs was entertaining to say the least. However, two are going home tonight, and there are no save votes the Idol judges can use to save anyone being kicked off the show tonight. Who will it be?

Season 10 of American Idol has almost made AI fans forget the last two years of dismal ratings and so-so singing talent. This season of Idols has some spectacular talent, great singing voices with enormous range and abilities, and some of the contestants already show stage presence so that we can almost (almost) feel as though we’re sitting in their concert. So, who will be voted off tonight on American Idol is anyone’s guess, but AI prediction tools may or may not indicate who is most likely to be sent home.

According to the typically used, nearly almost always right American Idol prediction tool, the Bottom 3 contestants tonight are most likely going to be Thia Megia, Paul McDonald and Stefano Langone. Lauren Alaina and Naima Adedapo aren’t far behind the others either.

Based on American Idol predictions, Stefano Langone apparently received the lowest number of votes and is most likely to be the contestant sent home tonight. It does not appear as though last week’s close call to be sent home (Casey Abrams) is at risk of elimination tonight at all. Prediction tools suggest Casey is safe, for now. The contestants that appear to be doing just fine in getting America behind them and voting them up with high numbers are Scotty McCreery, Jacob Lusk, Pia Toscano, Casey Abrams and Haley Reinhart.

Surprisingly enough, American Idol’s rocker James Durbin is shown in the upper end of the ‘yellow’ range – meaning not exactly safe (in the ‘green’ zone), nor does James appear anywhere near the bottom of the list. Based on the Idol prediction tools, I would venture a guess that the contestant being voted off American Idol tonight will be Stefano Langone, having received the lowest vote numbers.

Stefano has a great voice too, but as the Idol judges have commented numerous times throughout the competition thus far, he hasn’t been connecting with the audience and continues to close his eyes while singing. He might as well be singing to himself in the shower, instead of singing his heart out in hopes of winning American Idol’s tenth season.

Who will end up in the bottom 2 spot (along with Stefano) will likely be Thia Megia or Paul McDonald, but we’ll just have to wait and see what happens. Tonight’s guest performers for tonight’s double elimination will be Season 3 alum Fantasia, Will.I.Am and Jamie Foxx, intermixed of course as the results are narrowed down and announced in between performances. will.i.am and Jamie Foxx are scheduled to perform “Hot Wings (I Wanna Party)”, and Fantasia is set to sing her hit song “Collard Greens and Cornbread” from her Back To Me album.

Who should be voted off American Idol 10 tonight? According to Idol predictions tools, the Top 13 American Idol contestants with the lowest number of votes might include some of your favorite Idol singers.

Last night’s Idol performances included some incredibly good song choices and performances overall, and the music producers each contestant worked with brought some very good results and others…not so much. Who will be voted off American Idol tonight?

It appears thus far as though Scotty McCreery, James Durbin, Jacob Lusk and Pia Toscano are all safe from possible elimination tonight, and won’t be singing the new American Idol boot song. It will be interesting to hear how many total votes were received last night during the two hour window of text votes or online voting because the rest of the list of Idol contestants are shown by predictions to be at risk of being kicked off Idol.

However, at it appears right now, the bottom 3 contestants that received the lowest number of votes and are possibly in line to be kicked off season 10 of American Idol tonight are Ashthon Jones, Casey Abrams and Paul McDonald. According to the American Idol prediction tool, accurate the great majority of the time, Paul McDonald is expected to be voted off Idol tonight, having received the lowest number of votes.

Tonight on American Idol Season 10, the Top 13 Idol contestants sing songs by their favorite artist. After last week’s elimination and final selection of the Top 13, this season of American Idol has some talented singers for all of us Idol fans. For me, last season (season 9), was boring, anti-climactic and dull throughout the whole season. Bring on American Idol Season 10!

I haven’t chosen just one personal favorite quite yet to vote for since there are several very good singers, so I’ve voted for each of the ones I liked the most. Let’s see how the Top 13 Idol contestants song choices and performances work for them, or against them. This is American Idol! Ryan introduces the judges as usual and invites the Top 13 Idol contestants onstage to roaring audience applause.

First up to sing tonight is Lauren Alaina, to sing “Any Man ‘O Mine” by Shania Twain. 1-866-436-5701 to vote by phone or text your vote, or vote online at americanidol.com. Steven Tyler wished Lauren “was a little more kick ass” in her song choice and performance. Jennifer Lopez wished Lauren would “kick it into high gear” as she had in the audition phase. Randy Jackson said the song and performance was okay, he’s a fan, he liked it. Lauren is very talented and needs to show what she’s made of vocally each and every time she performs and not go with tame song choices.

Casey Abrams chose Joe Cocker’s “A Little Help From My Friends”. 1-866-436-5702 to vote by phone or text, or vote online at American Idol. Jennifer got a little emotionally choked up and finally says “you blew me away”. Randy said Casey hit all the notes great and he loved it. Steven Tyler said “you are a rainbow of talent”, a plethora of talent and loved it.

Ashthon Jones (one of last week’s Wild Card picks) sings “When You Tell Me You Love Me”. 1-866-436-5703 to place your votes, or vote for her online. Randy really liked the performance and is a fan. Steve says there is “more in there than you’re showing” and can hardly wait for her to show all she’s capable of. Jennifer says Ashthon is professional, kept her composure throughout the whole performance, and enjoyed it.

Paul McDonald sings “Come Pick Me Up” by Ryan Adams. 1-800-436-5704 to text your vote, or vote online at American Idol. Steven Tyler loves the rasp in Paul’s voice, though a “little pitchy” in places, but still a fan. Jennifer says Paul is “so unique” and his performance moved the crowd; she liked it. Randy loves the character that is Paul and is a huge fan; good performance.

Pia Toscano chooses to sing “All By Myself” by Celine Dion. 1-866-436-5705 to vote, or vote online at American Idol. Jennifer says “We love you Pia… really beautiful performance” and says she “topped last week’s performance”. Randy says Pia is such a natural talent and it was a cool performance. Randy of course included his infamous “Yo and Dope” phrases as well. Steven said Pia “slammed it” tonight. Pia has an amazing singing ability; very strong singer.

James Durbin is up next, singing “Maybe I’m Amazed” by Paul McCartney. 1-866-436-5706 to place your vote, or vote online. Randy loved it, says James is one of this season’s favorite contestants saying “You slayed it!” and that James “can do anything” vocally. Steven agreed with Randy saying James did a great job. Jennifer said the performance was “really good” and his singing has a melodic quality.

Haley Reinhart is up next singing “Blue” by Leann Rimes. 1-866-436-5707 to vote or vote online at American Idol. Steven Tyler said Haley did a good job with the song and it was a beautiful performance. Jennifer mentions Haley’s “diverse voice” ability and she really liked it. Randy felt the performance was a little sleepy and boring for him, but ok.

Jacob Lusk chooses to sing “I Believe I Can Fly” by R. Kelly. 1-866-436-5708 to vote, or vote online. Jacob vocal abilities and vocal range are incredible. Steven Tyler says Jacob’s got “pure passion” and he doesn’t feel like he can judge the performance – it was THAT good. Jennifer says this season’s contestants include amazing talent, Jacob included, she loved it. Randy says Jacob has a “signature sound”, there was one sharp spot in the performance but Randy is excited every time Jacob is onstage and he’s a big fan of Jacob.

Thia Megia sings “Smile” by Michael Jackson. 1-866-436-5709 to vote. Randy loved the intro more than the latter half and says it was pitchy in some places but turned out good overall. Steven agreed with Randy about the pitch problems and liked the start of the song better than the second half. Jennifer said the band arrangement was “interesting”, and that Thia “sings like an angel”.

Stefano Langone sings “Lately” by Stevie Wonder. 1-866-436-5710 to place your votes. Steven Tyler says Stefano pulled it off and is “soaring like a volcano”. Jennifer said she was dancing in her seat – it was very good. Randy agreed that Stefano has a great voice and did a great job tonight.

Karen Rodriguez sings “I Could Fall In Love” by Selena. 1-866-436-5711 to vote. Jennifer says Karen is one of the strongest girls vocally in the competition this season. Randy said he felt Karen was sort of “fighting the song” and it was a little sleepy/boring for him. Steven said he hoped for more from Karen tonight than was delivered.

Scotty McCreery sang “The River” by Garth Brooks. 1-866-436-5712 to vote for Scotty, or vote online at American Idol. Randy said Dude and Yo (again)…”If it ain’t broke….Dude don’t change…” Steven said it was “right on man”; he loved it. Jennifer said Scotty opened up more and embraced the audience and did a great job.

Naima Adedapo sang “Umbrella” by Rihanna. 1-866-436-5736 (Ryan added that the number 5736 was chosen over 5713 to avoid an “unlucky number 13″). Steven Tyler said it was “crazy good” but a little pitchy; brought some flavor to the competition. Jennifer said “you got fire girl!” Randy loved the “reggae thing” in Naima.

Your American Idol Top 10 is about to become the Idol Top 9, after last night’s top ten R&B Soul songs performances. Tonight we find out who got kicked off and is sent home. We’re here LIVE broadcasting the Idol results show, so keep watching this space to find out who got voted off American Idol! Last night’s performances had some good surprises, good vocals, but nothing spectacular. Predictions of who will be voted off Idol tonight vary – some say it’s time for Tim to go home. Ya think? Others feel Didi will be voted off, while some believe Andrew Garcia has overstayed his welcome. We’re about to find out!

This is American Idol! Video of “Clash of the Titans” is being played as clips of last night’s performances and judges criticisms are shown. Ryan Seacrest takes the stage. The votes are in and someone is in danger of elimination tonight, says Ryan, unless the judges use the Save. The judges and Top 10 are introduced.

Ruben Studdard (the velvet teddy bear) takes the Idol stage to sing. Ruben has lost weight! He’s a “vegan” and working out. Ruben and Clay Aiken are going on tour together soon.

Ford commercial to “Kung Fu Fighting” with the top ten making karate moves is played. Silly stuff. Ryan teases Mike Lynche about the ponytail under his ball cap. Ryan chats with Crystal and Andrew about their performance last night. Ryan and Andrew’s mom (in the audience) talk and “mom” says Andrew needs to just “be himself, cuz momma raised him right”.

The Votes are in!

Lee DeWyze is asked to stand – He’s SAFE.

Aaron Kelly stands – He’s safe!

Siobhan Magnus and Katie Stevens both stand. Siobhan says last night’s judges comments was not her favorite moment. Katie says she takes what she wants to sing and takes the judges comments and tries to blend them. Katie is in the Bottom 3! Siobhan is safe.

Justin Bieber is in the audience, chats momentarily with Ryan. Speculation that Justin is there to tape his upcoming performance after the results show is over perhaps?

Usher is up next to perform. Twitter peeps say this Usher/will.i.am song “sucks”. Enough with the crotch grabs already.

Didi Benami is asked to stand – Didi is in the Bottom 3 too! Both Didi and Katie in the bottom three so far.

Michael Lynche stands – He’s Safe.

Crystal Bowersox stands – She’s Safe.

Tim Urban and Andrew Garcia stand. Andrew is safe and Tim is in the Bottom 3.

American Idol Top 10 Theme R&B Soul Week Song List

American Idol’s Top 10 contestants will either enjoy or destroy this week’s theme, which is R&B soul songs. R&B is one my favorite music genres, so heaven help the remaining season 9 contestant(s) that choose the wrong song or make our ears bleed (again).

Considering how most, if not all, the fan sites have said that this season’s collection of “performers” has made this the worst season since American Idol began, it’s a shame that one or more contestants won’t be singing the Idol exit song Leave Right Now by Will Young – because that’s what we’re all thinking.

Usher will mentor the top ten this week, and will hopefully offer the contestants some much needed advice, direction and criticism of their song choice and overall performance. Siobhan, stop screaming. Crystal, would you please finally….let loose and show us your vocal range?

I would have loved it if Crystal had sung Janis Joplin’s “Piece of My Heart” last week, instead of “Me and Bobby McGee” – IF she would let go of the nerves and give us her “moment” on that stage. Tonight we find out who amongst the Top 11 got voted off and will be included in the Top 10 Finalists.

“This is American Idol” says Idol host Ryan Seacrest. One person is going home unless the judges use the save to keep them around. Idol judges are introduced.

Group song is up: Wham’s “Wake Me Up Be You Go Go” sung by the Top 11. Typical lip-sync job. Nothing special about it at all. The group song might be worth talking about if it was actually sung live, but it’s so obvious it’s recorded. Yawn.

Next up is the Top 11’s Ford commercial to “Our Time Now”.

Ryan explains this week’s cut is crucial. Umm, yeah. The Top 10 contestants go on tour! We’re (finally) down to finding out who the Top 10 contestants will be. Ryan talks with Casey James about his performance last night. Katie’s dad doesn’t feel it’s good for him to be there because he might jinx her chances. Siobhan’s boss is in the audience who refuses to shave until Siobhan wins. Good luck with that. Big Mike’s responsibilities as a new dad are shown.

Siobhan Magnus is safe. Lee DeWyze and Casey James are asked to stand and wait, while Tim Urban and Paige Miles are also asked to stand. Randy says he thinks Paige is in the bottom three and he’s right. Ryan says Paige Miles and Tim Urban are both in the bottom three. No surprise there. Casey and Lee are safe.

Ryan announces Usher will on the show next week. Miley Cyrus is on the piano and performs “When I Look At You”. Wow, Miley sounds umm, pitchy. Yeah, pitchy. And she was this week’s mentor. Yeah, okay. FAIL! Twitter buzz – folks say if Miley were a contestant on American Idol season 9, she’d be voted off next week and heading home.

Ryan says Idol Gives Back starts in a couple of weeks.

Aaron Kelly is safe. Didi Benami is told by Ellen DeGeneres she needs to pick better songs but she is safe.

Michael Lynch is safe. Crystal Bowersox is safe and they’re going on tour!

Katie Stevens and Andrew Garcia are asked to stand. Andrew is safe and Katie is in bottom three. Katie is announced she’s safe and can go sit down.

The final two are Paige Miles and Tim Urban.

Joe Jonas and Demi Lovato perform their duet “Make a Wave”. Awful, pitchy all over the place. Ick. Shoulda lip-synched it like the awful group song.

Who Should Be Voted Off American Idol Tonight?

American Idol will announce tonight who got voted off of Season 9, reducing the Top 11 down to the Top 10. Finally. Reading a number of American Idol fan blogs, it’s obvious that I’m not the only one who feels that Season 9 is the worst season in the history of this show.

Sure sure, there are some talented people who made it this far into the competition. Emphasis on the word some, which should probably be changed to a “couple” of Idol contestants who can consistently sing and sing well.

Wouldn’t it be great if American Idol producers and big-shots would make the oh-so-awesome decision to go straight for the jugular and allow us to vote for who will be the Top 4 contestants and get this show on the road? Everyone else can just go home. I’d vote for that decision like yesterday, and so would MJ.

Speaking of yesterday and last night’s performances on Idol, what is it with Siobhan Magnus and all that horrendous screaming? The first time she screamed her bloodcurdling, ear bleeding inducing scream that makes fingernails on a chalkboard seem tame in comparison, three weeks in a row of screaming is just too much. Siobhan, please stop the screaming. You proved you can scream already, so now just stop.

Not only were most of last night’s performances a complete trainwreck, most of the “top” contestants should have received a pink slip and the producers plan a do-over for the entire season. That’s why Simon Cowell and the other decision makers should fast-forward this farce, choose the best four, let America vote for who they want as the winner and be done with it.

Simon can then go off into the sunset and start focusing more of his attention on the X Factor.

So-so talent in this singing competition, especially now that we’re at this stage of the game, makes the show dull and boring. That’s putting it mildly.

Paige Miles and Andrew Garcia will most likely find themselves in the Bottom Two. Deservedly so. If I had to make a prediction of who should be voted off tonight and sent packing, I’d have to go with Andrew.

I won’t be surprised at all if Tim Urban is included in the Bottom Three. Sliding across the stage, with a lackluster singing ability, won’t keep ya in this competition Tim. Sorry.

Of course, I have my personal favorite(s), but I’m not going to tell you who he/she is.

Of those who should not be voted off and allowed to stay around awhile longer are Didi Benami, Casey James, Michael Lynch, Crystal Bowersox, Lee DeWyze and Siobhan Magnus (if she stops screaming and causing my ears to bleed!).

Everyone else can go home.

Randy Jackson Leaving American Idol Too…

Is Randy Jackson leaving American Idol? It was only a matter of time before news and blog reports would come out saying that Randy Jackson is leaving American Idol too, after Season 9, to join Simon Cowell and Paula Abdul on X Factor.

Randy Jackson was interviewed by the LATimes about his future on Idol, and low and behold, Jackson isn’t giving an official exit statement quite yet but…

Just like Simon Cowell and Paula Abdul did about their plans to leave American Idol, the hype and buzz about their possible plans to leave the show went on for far too long.

“We have a theory that — with Cowell leaving, Paula Abdul being a free agent for now, and (as reported) you signing a three-year extension in 2006 — the original “Idol” dream team could reunite on “The X-Factor.” Care to respond?”

Jackson replies, “You know, there’s a song by the Fray that I really love. It’s called “Never Say Never.”

In the Feb 15th edition of The National Enquirer, a tipster spills the beans that yes, Randy Jackson is leaving American Idol.

“Randy was basically told that there was a very good chance he was not going to be asked back after this season,” said the tipster. “Now that Simon’s leaving at the end of the season, they are rethinking the roles of the other judges — and that includes Randy…..”

Randy Jackson has just one more year left on his contract with FOX, and even though Jackson isn’t making an official statement quite yet, Idol fans and Jackson fans might as well start getting used to the idea that all of the original judges for American Idol are walking away from the mega-hit reality show.

What will happen to American Idol after Season 9 is anyone’s guess. Cancelled due to low ratings? Can Kara DioGuardi and Ellen DeGeneres (and any other judges or guest judges brought in) keep Idol alive, perhaps increase ratings and viewership? Personally, I highly doubt it.

Ellen DeGeneres may do well as a judge on American Idol, we’ll just have to wait and see. With Kara, I can take her or leave her, it makes no difference to me. But now that we know the hype, buzz and rumors about Randy Jackson leaving American Idol are all over the net, it’s a good guess that once Season nine is over and done with, Idol will be gone too.

Replaced by X Factor, with Simon Cowell, Paula Abdul and Randy Jackson as judges.
