American Idol May 6, 2009 is here! We’re LIVE for tonight’s American Idol Top 4 Rock theme elimination vote. American Idol starts tonight at 9 P.M. EST, when we find out Who Got Voted Off American Idol tonight!
THIS IS AMERICAN IDOL!!! Over 64 million votes were registered for last night’s ROCK performances. WOW! Ryan introduces the Idol judges. “No Doubt is here” and Daughtry performs, as does Paula Abdul.
Next is the Ford Video Performance of Move Along. VIDEO
Here comes SLASH with the Top 4 Finalists singing “Schools Out” by Alice Cooper. They’re ROCKIN’ tonight! Yeah baby! Slash sure plays a mean guitar, and the Top 4 are doing a great job, with Adam Lambert hitting the high notes with spectacular precision. VIDEO
Ryan speaks with Slash briefly about an upcoming album but gets no details, and now we’re at a commercial. The American Idol LIVE summer tour tickets go on sale this Saturday, says Ryan.
Ryan asks the Top 4 “what’s the vibe” on Wednesday nights? Kris Allen says it’s surreal to sing before millions of people, but Simon Cowell tells Kris “we don’t want humble anymore” but that Kris should feel like he deserves to be on American Idol. Adam Lambert says he’s been having a blast, and loved his outfit last night. Danny Gokey says he was laughing the whole night after watching the playback video, and referred to the ending of his Dream On song as a “horror scream”. Yeah it was! Allison says she felt the need to speak up for herself about her song choice for last night when Simon criticized her. VIDEO
Paula Abdul is up singing (lip-synching) I’m Just Here For The Music. Paula’s performance was pre-taped last night, as was No Doubt’s performance. The only LIVE performance tonight is by Chris Daughtry. Paula is wearing a short, green and black outfit, moving around the stage with her backup dancers during her performance. The song is uptempo/techno sounding and actually sounds pretty good, but I may have to listen to it a few times to get hooked on it enough to download it. VIDEO
Commercial again.
Paula Abdul did a quick clothes change and Ryan asks Paula “Why now” about why perform her song on American Idol. She says Idol is the greatest place to perform her new single.
No Doubt is on stage singing I’m Just A Girl. No Doubt is actually doing push-ups on the stage while singing. Umm, why? No Doubt (Gwen Stafani) is a very popular performer, but I don’t get the fascination, sorry. VIDEO
Green bra underneath a sheer white tank top – that’s called an outfit? Tacky, tacky. Commercial break again.
The Results Are In! Video clips of previous hometown visits are shown, since hometown visits for the Top 4 are on the line tonight. The Top 4 Finalists take the stage, and the lights are dimmed. Here we go. VIDEO
Ryan reminds each of the finalists of the judges comments about their performances last night. “The first person in the Top 3 and headed home for a parade is KRIS ALLEN!!! Wow!!! Kris Allen is SAFE!!! Commercial break again. Twitter is going wild!!!
Video is shown of Chris Daughtry being voted off American Idol Season 6, but that was “just the beginning” of Daughtry’s amazing career. Chris Daughtry is singing the debut new single performance of No Surprise on American Idol. Rock it Chris! VIDEO
Love me some Daughtry… Definitely have to dig up the Lyrics to No Surprise right after American Idol ends tonight. The song and performance is great! Chris Daughtry tells Ryan Seacrest that his elimination from American Idol felt like the “world was coming to an end, but I got over it 30 seconds later”. No kidding – Chris Daughtry ROCKS!!! Commercial again.
Who Got Voted Off American Idol?? The second person who is in the Top 3 (in random order) and headed to their hometown is ADAM LAMBERT!!!! Adam Lambert is SAFE!!!
Danny Gokey is SAFE and Allison Iraheta got voted off American Idol! Definitely didn’t see that one coming! Predictions had Danny Gokey or Kris Allen going home tonight! Wow. Shocker!!! MAJOR UPSET! Just 17 years old, Allison Iraheta once again rocks out to Janis Joplin’s Cry Baby. Allison Iraheta fans have been desperately wanting to hear Allison sing Piece Of My Heart by Janis Joplin, but it’s not going to happen on American Idol. VIDEO
The Top 3 American Idol Theme Next Week – Top 3 Finalists (Adam Lambert, Kris Allen and Danny Gokey) take on Judges Choice and their Personal Pick. TWO Songs for each next week. Hometown visits happen on Friday next week, and by then we’ll know the Judges Choices.
What do you think? Did America get it right? Should Allison Iraheta have been voted off American Idol? Who did you think/hope would get kicked off Idol tonight?

Yes! I think America got it right. I really wanted to see Allison win, but fair is fair and America has spoken. My favorite is Danny and i feared he would go tonight because of the scream from hell at the end of “Dream on” but you have to remember that Kris, Adam (yuck) and Danny have been the most consistant of them all. Adam is going to win cause he has the little girl/boy vote and the judges in his pocket and that makes me ill, but if America says Adam wins then…he wins. Chris Daughtry proves that you don’t have to win…just talented and Danny & Kris are both talented.
America so got it wrong this time. No Allison isn’t the best singer out of the group but was one of the best singers last night. Not really a fan of Kris, or Adam, so Danny has my vote now.
If the vote is supposed to be based on each week’s performance, there must be a flaw somewhere! It must really be a popularity contest, not a singing contest. Allison out-sang Danny last night by a at least 10 parsecs!
No, the voters did not get it right. Allison outsung Danny by a long shot. Danny should have been voted off. Adam is a spectacular singer and performer and should take this competition hands down.
CC(YUCK), It is people like you that make me sick. YOU can support who you want to win without tearing down the other contestants. Every mentor they have had on the show across ALL genres have all said that adam has a set of pipes and they have been blown away with his range and how effortless it is for him to sing. You make me ill with your need to tear down someone with personal attacks. Get over your phobias! You’re probably have many people who are clamering to be your best friend! YOUR comments are vial.
I think every 1 is entitled to there opion and if some people (ccyuck) don’t like it they should not be leaving any. Comments but I do think now that Allison is gone danny will be gettin my vote
Cathy, I agree that the voters didn’t get it right. Danny and Chris were much weaker last night. Everytime I tried to vote last night, all my votes for adam were blocked. It wouldn’t let me vote for him. But I had no problem voting for some of the other contestants. Somethin is up.
LB, what you do mean the numbers “were blocked” when you tried to vote for Adam Lambert? I didn’t have any busy signals at all last night while dialing and voting for my personal favorite.
At this point in the game, to be honest, each week doesn’t even matter. Now it’s who is your favorite. Most Americans vote for their favorite regardless. If this were early in the season Danny or Kris would of went home on performance. What matters now is who Allison’s fans are going to swing towards and start voting for. I have said since day 1 final 3 were Danny, Allison, and Kris in that order. I was off by 1, oh well. If you haven’t noticed, Allison has been in the bottom 3 every time she has done a rock/edgy performance, so this wasn’t a shocker. Even though I thought she was the best of the night it, I’m not surprised.
If i had it my way, Danny would have been voted off. But let’s face it, Alli is not as popular as Danny or Adam.
Judges praise Adam because he is remakably excellent and he has been very consistent, unlike Danny. Danny used to bag all the praises from the judges before, but it turns out that there’s something lacking in him. I personally think he does not have the luster of a star and his vocal chords are not flexible. In short, he is not a versatile singer.
Final 2 would be Danny and Adam. If Adam wins, no explanation needed. If Danny wins, ill shrug my shoulders off and just wait for the release of Adam’s album.
Your dead right about Adam, he is the star player amongst all of the contestants. I just can’t see Danny, whose voice I like, beating Adam and I definitely don’t see in an ideal world Kris Allen (boring, limited voice; little girl fave.) beating either!
But, as we’ve seen in the past week, Idol is not always an ideal world.
Steve Mo, you are so right. Now it is a popularity contest. And it will be interesting to see who allison’s fans will vote for now. With that being said, I agree with Slash. Adam has a set of pipes. His range is unbelievable and it is so effortless for him. However with Danny and Kris you can him them suck in breath before they can sing the next phrase. I just don’t think they have had to sing to a huge audience before. Listen to their singing and see if you agree.
Hope Adam will pich up some of Alisons fans, its the same musicdirection!
American Idol Fan, yes the number was blocked for Adam.
Wow LB, sorry to hear you had trouble getting through the lines.
There’s no need to add anything into the “url” spot when leaving a comment, so I’ve edited your comment (and others) to remove the dead link that was created.
What a load of sh#t, Allison got kicked! Kris Allen must be Irish with a leprechaun on his shoulder, HE should be out of this competition! Danny was crap on the night but he, & Allison, are vastly better singers then Kris Allen and have been over the entire season!
With that said, Adam is just stellar and has the whole package down!! Once again, I’ll eat my hat if Kris doesn’t go next.
At this point, as far as their careers go, it really doesn’t matter whether or not they get kicked off. In fact, a case could be made that with the obvious exceptions of Kelly Clarkson and Carrie Underwood, people who “lost” on American Idol have actually gone on to have more success than some of the “winners”.
As a viewer, I think with the departure of Allison, the last couple of weeks of this season just got a whole lot less entertaining.
It’s been obvious almost since Hollywood week that Adam was probably going to win.
… and even if there is some big “surprise” and Danny gets more votes in the final (Kris will be gone next week), who will really care? Honestly?
TM, you may have a point there. Many American Idol “losers” have gone on to have contracts and advanced their careers in the music business.
One thing that has been interesting to watch is the incredible influence of the “vote for the worst” phenomenon that goes on with each season of American Idol. VFTW was all abuzz this week telling people to vote for Danny Gokey, after that ear-piercing screaming performance, all in the name of creating excitement and anticipation of who would get voted off.
Kris Allen may go home next week, but maybe not. Many Idol predictions make the claim that Adam Lambert should be voted off, since Adam would go on to have a music career regardless of whether Adam becomes the winner of Season 8 or not.
Next week’s theme could make all the difference in the world, and what two songs each of the final 3 sing (and how well they sing or completely screw it up for themselves) could make for some exciting television.
It will be Simon’s finale: Adam vs Danny, with Adam being declared the winner. He is in fact the best contestant, no doubt about that. My favourite is Danny, for me the best voice! I’ll love to see them both on the finals. If, by some ‘terrible mistake’ Kris Allen makes to the final it will be unacceptable in my opinion. Props for Allison- wish her all the best:)
Adam is the most talented singer at all,he brings the whole package and is constantly on the top with his performances,no matter which weektheme they have to tackle.he s an allroundshowman and can do ANYTHING brilliant at his own marcable way..Alison,Kris and Goofy have their very special musicdirections and will do good in the musicbusiness in USA.Adam will go worldwide,he has the look, the stagepresens, the nervs, the range, the voice, the fantasie, the creativity, the musicality, the instinct,he dares to be diferent and he is fearless and riscy. He includes the IT”-factor and the multitalent AND is also an exellent dancer, which does nt hurt at all to fill concertstadions..Hes my favorite and I hope very much he wins.I agree also,if not-it doesnt really matter! He ll make his way!
