American Idol 4/28/09 Top 5 Rat Pack Jazz on American Idol Performance Video Recap

American Idol 4/28/09 – American Idol Top 5 RAT PACK STANDARDS Performances, Recap, Comments and Video. Who will get voted off American Idol tomorrow night on the 4/29/09 Idol Results Show???

***Keep watching this space for updates of VIDEOS to watch the American Idol Top 5 finalists (Adam Lambert, Kris Allen, Allison Iraheta, Matt Giraud and Danny Gokey) sing Rat Pack songs.**

Tonight’s American Idol Rat Pack theme brings back songs from the 5 original Rat Packs: Frank Sinatra, Sammy Davis Jr, Peter Lawford, Dean Martin and Joey Bishop., with “surprise” mentor Jamie Foxx appearing tonight on American Idol.

“THIS IS AMERICAN IDOL!” – The American Idol Finale is just 3 weeks away! Standards from the Rat Pack Era! “Mystery Mentor” Jamie Foxx is introduced with each of the Top 5 not having any idea who the mentor would be this week.

First to sing is KRIS ALLEN singing “The Way You Look Tonight”. Slow, mellow and smooth. Kris looks great in his suit too. Very nice job Kris! Randy Jackson says “this is your best performance…, nice!” Kara DioGuardi says Kris has “set the technical standards for this night”, and that Kris is a “dark horse in this competition”. Paula Abdul called Kris a “charismatic crooner”. Simon Cowell didn’t think the performance was that great, calling the performance “wet”, and doesn’t believe Kris Allen can possibly win this Season 8 competition. To VOTE for Kris Allen, phone 1-866-IDOLS-01 or 06 – OR Text “VOTE” to 5701 or 5706. TWO phone numbers for each Idol to help you get through! Cool!

Next to sing is ALLISON IRAHETA performing “Someone To Watch Over Me”. Yesterday was Allison’s 17th Birthday. Happy Birthday Allison! Perhaps a bit risky for Allison to sing a love song at such a young age, but she’s doing a great job in this performance. Randy Jackson also loved Allison’s performance. Kara says Allison likely earned some new fans tonight, and if this performance “doesn’t land you in the finals, I don’t know what will”. Paula says the performance was alluring and very tender. Simon Cowell asks Allison if she thinks she can win the competition and she of course does, but Simon says he feels she could be in trouble tonight. Uh Oh Allison!!! To VOTE for Allison Iraheta, phone 1-866-IDOLS-02 OR 07 – or Text “VOTE” to 5702 or 5707.

Next up is MATT GIRAUD singing “My Funny Valentine”. Jamie Foxx suggested Matt “change the key” to Matt’s normal voice, and Jamie feels that would be all it would take for Matt to nail the song. Randy Jackson said it was “pitchy” in some places and said it was a “6 out of 10″. Kara commented that Matt “wasn’t emotionally connected to the song”. Paula says she “felt the connection by lowering the key” and that he did an “excellent job tonight”. Simon Cowell disagrees with Randy! Simon says it “was the only believable, authentic song tonight” – saying Matt’s performance was “absolutely brilliant”. To VOTE for Matt Giraud, phone 1-866-IDOLS-03 or 08 – OR Text “VOTE” to 5703 or 5708.

DANNY GOKEY is next with “Come Rain Come Shine”. Danny is doing a GREAT job with this Song!!! WOW!!!! I am soooo going to download this song performance!!! Randy Jackson says Danny is the only one tonight so far who can actually make an album with songs like this, and “you can sing!!!”. Kara says she’s been missing the Rat Pack Swagger and that Danny has it! “Unbelievable!” Paula simply says Danny’s performance was “stellar”. Simon says Danny had a swagger and that he felt Danny “came out to prove a point” with a “superb arrangement”, and the performance was “outstanding”! To VOTE for Danny Gokey, phone 1-866-IDOLS-04 or 09 – OR Text “VOTE” to 5704 or 5709.

Last to sing tonight is ADAM LAMBERT singing “Feeling Good”. Adam Lambert in a white suit is HOT! Randy Jackson is sounding like a broken record, saying the performance was a little theatrical but spectacular. Kara says Adam is shocking and sleazy and way over the top but a great performance. Paula compares Adam Lambert to Michael Phelps. Simon Cowell says Adam obviously wants to win, and that it was a great performance. To VOTE for Adam Lambert, phone 1-866-IDOLS-05 or 10 – OR Text “VOTE” to 5705 or 5710.

Well, there you have it. Your TOP 5 Finalists Rat Pack song performances. Who will be voted off American Idol tomorrow night? Make your predictions in the comments below. Who are you voting for??? My prediction is that MATT GIRAUD will be voted off tomorrow night. What do you think?

I consistently like Adam who is refreshingly original, had wonderful vocals and brings a Broadway-like performance to the show each and every week. He’s poised, looks confident and isn’t afraid to show America what he can do.
This week however, I must admit that my vote goes to Danny and Chris. I agree with Randy that it was Chris’ best performance so far; his tenderness and sweet vulnerability had me fanning myself towards the end of the song.
Danny’s vocals were the best of all of the performances tonight and with his gutsy/over the top ending I would have given him a standing ovation if I was in the audience. He was outstanding and in my opinion, probably the best performance of the evening.
Someone has to go tomorrow night and I’m afraid
it will be Allison. She is just too young to be believable in this genre and though she has a powerful set of pipes, she just doesn’t do it for me. She lacks a connection with her audience and doesn’t convey much of a personality. There is no way she can win. Matt will be in the bottom 2 with her. While he did a nice job, he lacks the vocals of Danny, Adam and Chris, and his performance was a little bit rough in the beginning. At any rate, both he and Allison are the next in line to go no matter who goes first.
These contestants are a talented bunch, and I hope each one finds some success in his or her bright futures.
I am really enjoying the show this year… just get rid of Kara. No offense intended but 4 judges is just too much and drags the show down to where they are always running late and then have to speed through the ending in an attempt to catch up. And frankly, it gets a bit boring. We just don’t need to hear 4 peoples’ opinions, and they should go back to 3 judge system next year.

LOVE TO SEE ADAM LOSE JUST TO SEE THE LOOK ON HIS FACE, RANDY’S, KARA, PAULA, AND SIMONE.

BY THE WAY HE BUTCHERED THAT SONG.

HIS ENTRANCE WAS UNNECESSARY AND OVER THE TOP. EVERY CONTESTANT SHOULD HAVE THE SAME OPPORTUNITY TO MAKE THE SPECTACULAR ENTRANCES AS HE HAS ALL SEASON LONG!

SORRY, BUT HE SHOWED NO ABILITY TO SING A BASIC STANDARD BALLAD, WHICH I WAS WAITING FOR HIM TO DO, IN THE TRADITION OF A SINATRA, BENNETT OR SAMMY DAVIS, JR. IMHO, UNLIKE THE JUDGES,I FEEL HE’S A ONE-TRICK PONY WHO ONLY REALLY ONLY KNOWS HOW TO SING ROCK, EXHIBITING NO VERSATILITY OUTSIDE THAT NARROW GENRE

    FAVORITISM???

matt giraud needs to go…it was pitchy…and i dont like the way simon said allison was in trouble..b/c people actually listen to him…if it was a good preformance all he needed to say was that…though this could also work in that now loads of people vote for her b/c they dont want her to go …aahhh im actually scared!!

The Rat Pack were the bad boys of the 60’s
the pop crooners – not jazz not blues but
pop and true to their boys club image performers
they did what they wanted on and off the stage.
Adam you are more than pop, you’ve shown you
can perform and as all the contestants have
been performing all their lives it’s just your
are incredible and could perform anywhere on this
planet. Your humbleness and love to fellow artist is inspiring and do not bring personal values or hidden agendas to this competition. I can’t wait to see you live. I don’t know how the legal part of AI goes in terms of getting rights to singing certain songs but You Know How to Pick Them. It’s a shame to see so many hidden
agendas to those that blog against you.
Stay true to AL – America Loves U.

  5. Sassy says:

    ets,
Every contestant has the same creative liscense for the song they choose to sing. The contestants choose the arrangement, the lighting, and their entrances. Your just pissed because, you admitted it yourself, he makes his spectacular. Danny tried to make a great entrance and it fell flat. I thought that tonight would be a train wreck for some of the idols, but I was pleasantly surprised with most of them. One thing that I think we can all agree on is that they were all true to their musical styles. Simon said at the very beginning of the season that people are going to hate or love Adam. As far as I can see that is true. There is no middle ground that I’ve heard from people. You don’t particularly care for his style and that is the beauty of the competition. You vote for who you like.

  6. Darrell says:

They were all surprisingly good. As someone has already said it could have been a total trainwreck for all of them.
Both are boring singers. Top 3 of Adam, Danny & Allison? Kris has his backers but I just don’t get excited at all, don’t feel the love for Matt either, glad he’s gone, I preferred ‘noop dogg over him.
